He did well enough outside of the conference as well, yes we got destroyed by every SEC team we played under him (with the exception of the forfeited Arkansas game) but he won quite a few big OOC games as well...

Probably my #1 choice if I had to choose right now. Tressel has credentials. He has a fantastic track record. He is a good recruiter. He recognizes talent. Tattoo gate was not that big of a deal. Compare to what North Carolina does with broad academic cheating, what Miami does with broad academic, financial, and social cheating, big deal on clothes for tattoos.

Other posters have put up some names that I am not familiar with, but have good credentials. Nebraska gets third choice at best, after USC and Texas.

I would throw away the chance at the Bahamas Bowl for someone like Tressel.

Exactly. Nebraska would have a much better chance of playing in some higher tier bowl games with a coach like Tressel.

Well, if in fact it were true, how hard would it really be to get Chucky out of that contract? Do you really think ESPN would prevent him from returning to coaching? Maybe some small $$$ penalty but nothing more.

One can dream. If he ACTUALLY sat down with TO, I would think there is at least a CHANCE. I mean, this guy's name alone would bring in top 5 talent, and he is a great coach. I would think a chance to pull a Nick Saban at Nebraska would be a little temping.

Personally I hope Bo turns it around. I speculate on a replacement based on a doomsday scenario that we continue to perform poorly the rest of the season, which would result in a deserved firing. Better to be prepared if that happens. Again, I hope he turns it around, but my faith is dwindling.

You're in the B1G now. Being 7-4 against its flagship schools in the first two years is a quality win, no matter their record. The other schools are quality BCS programs.
Were any of these programs down, perhaps but none the less, you want to have wins over those programs for recruiting reasons.
