Great deal for us.

Paying a pitcher of his caliber that much is a bargain IMO.

My only concern is that the Mariners ownership might have the mentality that they've already spent a ton of money on Castillo, Ray and Julio and use that as justification to not spend in free agency.

But a really great point is they have a crap load of money to spend in the off-season and now don’t have a single untouchable prospect so Jerry can miss on a deal but still trade for a guy. Really leaves the needs at a 2B/SS and preferably 2 COF’s.

This is a great deal for the team. I hope he pitches more like he did in August as oppose to September going forward but regardless I have no complaints here.

Easy to say that we need bats. But, who are these bats we should be targeting? Other than the guys who will be beyond what we want to pay (Judge, Trea Turner, etc) I don't see a lot out there. Some look good but are too old. Two names I see that might work:
Josh Bell
Brandon Nimmo

Two others who are not free agents but may be available because their respective orgs are tightwads:
Bryan Reynolds
Randy Arozarena

And one other guy who just doesn't seem to fit into his team's future vision:
Jeff McNeil.

I was looking at that a couple days back as well. I didn't notice Nimmo on the list, but I would be happy with him. I think I mentioned on going after Reynolds and/or ??? I forgot who. Old brain.

I mentioned go hard for Turner for SS and move Crawford to wherever. McNeil I didn't think of but that fits our 2B need.

They locked up Crawford too. And Marco. But I agree, it makes you wonder what will happen this winter and what type of hitter, if any, they will go after. And it makes me wonder about the future of France and Sewald with both players due big raises through arbitration.
