The Baltimore Sun is the only outlet reporting this. Everyone else is just retweeting their tweet. Nothing on this from Cardinals beat writers except the retweets. It can't become official till Tuesday afternoon. I'll wait till we get conformation of a verbal agreement from Cardinals sources before I get excited.
For what it is worth, I had Jared Veldheer as the top LT target for the Cardinals back in late January. I would be ecstatic if his signing comes to fruition.
If this happens, I think Dansby is probably gone. He's going to test the market and someone is going to offer him more than AZ can/will. And then we'll be hoping he just loves AZ so much he'll still sign here anyways.
After the Jay Feely resigning, that puts us at $21,212,588 minus his salary when it gets reported. I would say we are in the $19 mil range.
There is more than enough money to pay both Veldheer & Dansby. The problem is that the cardinals shouldn't pay Dansby anymore than the 2 years at $10-12 mil that had been previously reported as the cardinals offer. As good as he was, you let him walk if he wants anymore than that.
It goes without saying that more than a few of us were saying Dansby is all about the $$$ & would likely bolt for more money if he had the opportunity.
