thats only 1 of three bridge/tunnel combos in Hampton Roads...i always figured it was normal

Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (I-64)
Monitor Merrimac Bridge Tunnel (I-664)

heh, funny how what your used to is so different for people.. i've never seen or heard of that before.. i've heard of (and driven on) tunnels under water, but never in combination w/ a bridge

Even aside from the possibility of a bridge collapse, I'm trying to picture a bridge that's high enough for an aircraft carrier to go underneath... That would be something. :)

heh, ya it would.. i bet it'd still be the cheaper and easier option though

to be honest when i made my first comment i didnt even think of the naval fleet haha

I'm betting you're good to go. And, now you know what to do if it comes back. No more listening to the repair shop run around.... :bowl:

my buddy knows a guy who is real good with steering issues. think i might just take it down to his shop this time, it'll cost me i'm sure, but he'll be able to do a more thorough investigation than i can

I don't really blame you. My buddy fights it every 3-6 months. Hopefully the expert will find everything and not just the obvious stuff we see when we're laying under there

well evidently the guy's wife is in the hospital, and he's heading across the bay this morning to be with her, not sure when he'll be back. damn it (hope she's okay though).

I crawled back under inspected things, noticed that my track bar, when i grip it and move my hand back and forth, the TB rotates back and forth a little bit. then got my gf to get in and do a dry steering test, has a couple milimeters of play at the axle end.

I'm heading across the bay this weekend, and would like to get it fixed before that. I've already got a replacement track bar bushing. So I think rather than waiting for him, and probably paying a lot more, I'm going to take off an afternoon, replace the bushing (hopefully dont need to replace the entire track bar), and probably also go ahead and replace my steering damper and hopefully that will take care of the demon.

if you have the part, definitely replace the axle end of the track bar. Do you already have a new stabilizer? If you don't, see how it drives after the track bar. You can probably save a few $ on a stabilizer.

I had in my head that it would cost you $75 or more. $30 isn't too bad. And, yeah, lot's of times they go bad and let you "feel" DW quicker. It's just that they aren't causing the DW - that's coming from looseness somewhere.

I see you over on the beer forum. I'm starting to think about home brewing. I have to start reading up and figure out what I want to do... :suds:

thats what i've heard too, re: the stabilizer, and actually when i called the expert that my buddy told me about, his first thought was i need a new stabilizer....so i started thinking more about doing it myself!

homebrewing is a ton of fun, and very rewarding too! pretty easy to get started, until you decide to get more adventurous (even then, you've done it for long enough that its not too hard). Starting out, if you can follow a recipe, you can make beer

I think I have my wife convinced on the brewing. I just had to tell her I'd make her some hard cider! Now, I just have to lurk around, read alot and figure out what I'm gonna do.

hopefully your track bar end fixes the DW for now. If you get sick of wrenching on it you can think about after market steering. You can put 1 ton steering on there for not too many $ - I haven't priced it recently - but that will definitely help... My heep gets beat around rock crawling fairly often, but is street legal. It's on a 6 in lift with 1 in body running 35's. Using Curie steering and can run down the interstate no problem.

still waiting to get mine up, but probably wont be nearly that high...at least not to start out :D, i'm just thinking 2-2.5" lift, and probably 32s

i was brewing before i met my gf, so no need to convince her on my end, lol...i got two full batches now, and i'm thinking of doing a batch of mead here soon
