Pretty telling stat about which team is the contender and which is the pretender.

I dont think the canucks dominance lately has much to do with contender/pretender status ... stars just dont match up well with the canucks for some unknown reason. Well, special teams have killed the stars and Lehtonen has looked like he was swiss. Also, maybe because the stars have really big forwards who want to play a hitting rough game (6 guys on the stars with over 100 hits this year - homer scorekeeper might be at work here) and the canucks dont play that way. So they end up trying to skate with the canucks and they can't

so if the canucks somehow matchup with the stars in the playoffs at some point ... who starts in goal for the canucks? hmmm? is it that easy to just say Luongo when Schneider has a career 0.966 save% versus the stars ... ok, he's really just amassed that in one year and 1 game from last year but its awesome to know they can turn to Schneider if Luongo decides to pull a Chicago

The one thing I noticed from last night's game is that Cody is a lot stronger than he was in previous games with the Canucks. He'll never be a top line player but I see him as a solid second or third liner for years to come (if he can finally stay healthy).

And I'm loving this Tanev kid. What a find.

no shit.... Brendan Morrow was absolutely invisible last night,
was still credited with EIGHT hits.

hits in the game were counted as 48-18.
yes Dallas was more physical, but that stat is utter garbage.

yeah that was another dominated game by Vancouver. You could say that the 1st game against Dallas this year we got a few lucky breaks and bounces as Dallas missed some glorious chances to score but the last 2 games they have not even been close in play. Hockey Gods wont be nice if we meet in the playoffs I think :)

Matt Sekeres was saying yesterday that Gilman told him the long term goal is to have Cody at centre with Kes moving to wing on the second line ... there is definitely promise ... you can see the hockey IQ beyond his years ... on that chance in front he had you could see the nerves as he handled the puck like a grenade ... it was kinda similar to the chance Shirokov had in his first game that he buried

its just crazy how 2 years ago Tanev was in tier 2 and now hes pro and almost everytime he's in a difficult spot down low below the faceoff dots, he doesnt go off the glass or boards but instead makes a pass right on to another guys blade ... i just worry he's getting away with these semi-dangerous passes right now because opponents know he's young and dont expect him to make a less than safe play

one more thing on the home cooking stats guy...

Vancouver is the best face-off team in the league (by a pretty decent margin), and all of a sudden they go 27-47? not bloody likely. Seems every single one of the potential ties or winger wins would go to the home team. It's a wonder Vancouver had the puck at all last night.

no wonder everyone hates that fucking team
