Did anyone actually know of Michael Buble before the Olympics? I'd never heard anything he'd ever done. Hell, I never even heard his name before. Why VANOC and Canada wanted to portray him as the greatest Canadian star ever was beyond me. Safer play than putting Nickleback out there, sure, but didn't loungelizard crooners have their heyday long before any interesting drugs hit the streets?

I,m not a fan,and not ashamed to admit it.

Just because "so or so" celebrity is also a hockey fan,doesn't garner brownie points from me.

I like Michaeal J. Fox and Dennis Leary as actors-they're also hockey fans-so what.

Bigger than Gordon Lightfoot,Rush,Bryan Adams,Paul Anka,etc?

To this day,IMO Gordon Lightfoot(solo) and Rush (group) are the best acts to come from Canada.Just because I,m not a Buble fan doesn't mean he can't outdo them,but I never heard of this guy till this past year.

I never saw a single snip of Gordon Lightfoot during the Olympics. Nor Rush. I saw Michael Buble's 1940s outfit and heard his 1950s voice all day every damn day.
Believe me, I never heard of him, either. Until the Olympics rolled around and he was paraded around to every interview circuit and talkshow.
All I thought was, "great, VANOC wants to show that Canada's music scene is still stuck in the Paul Anka era"
