Haha - Very true Matty. Remember back several years when Grand Forks, North Dakota hosted the tourney and they were running out of beer from all the folks from Manitoba driving down to watch the games?

Hey Puck, I've talked to a couple of friends about going there and they're positive to the idea. No plans made yet, but I'll keep you updated. Would be fun to have a couple of beers and watch some hockey

I know the games make the most money in Canada but it seems like they could spread it around a bit more. JMO.

they did for many years Boss. Sometimes it went so far as almost 5 years before it came back to canada. however not one that I can remember outside canada made money for the IIHF. the IIHF and canada felt for the strength of the tournament and what it means it had to come back to canada every 2nd year in order to repopulate the kitty. until other countries turn over the $$ in revenue I dont see why it shouldnt be in canada every 2 years. hell I dont even think the last time it was in the states it made money unless canadian were coming down to fill the seats.

historically, it hasn't been THAT often, Boss.
we got 2 in a row recently because Switzerland cancelled hosting at short notice, and no one else was able to step up as quickly and successfully

and Matt has a good point - every nation benefits when this tourney makes a lot of dough.
it's no coincidence that the recent US hosted tourneys have all been within 100 miles of the border.

I can see Buffalo making a bid again. The new Harbor Center will be done in a little over a year and will have two NHL size rinks in it, it's adjacent to the First Niagara Center. It's a Hotel / Hockey complex under construction now.
