3 out of 4 possible points,
Luongo save% sitting at about 0.975, GAA at 1.00
Sedins above a point-per-game pace
PK has killed 8 of 9

I'm OK with the start.

plus lots of turnover in the bottom 6 forwards ... they need some time to play together

the d has looked ultra tight

and on Luongo:

Luongo was outstanding, way ahead of where he normally is in October.

"Next year I'm going to be like [Brett] Favre, I'm going to threaten retirement until the preseason is over and just come in and play games," said Luongo, laughing when it was pointed out that with his contract nobody would believe him anyway. "Not having a preseason seems to work great for me."

Vancouver connections on the Panthers:

Shawn Matthias (was drafted with a Canuck pick)

are you sure I thought he was traded for Bertuzzi? or did Bert leave Fla as a UFA?

ahah

2007/02/27 Florida Panthers traded Todd Bertuzzi to the Detroit Red Wings for Shawn Matthias, a conditional draft selection in 2007 and a conditional 2nd round selection in 2008.

well he was traded there for ex Canuck so does that count?

Can anybody else score for the Canucks other than the Sedins?

glib answer: when the robots are going, we don't need anymore offense.

a little more depth: the first and second line were pretty balanced in terms of offense, even though the Sedins get a lot of the press.

Burrows - 35 - granted most were with the twins, but many weren't (5 SHG, for example)
Samuelsson: 30 - though I think he overreached by 5 or so.
Sedins each with 29
Kesler - 25
Rayond - 25
Ehrhoff - 14

Torres and Malhotra should add a few on the 3rd line (over what last year was),
and we could lose some offense from the blueline with Salo out.

yeah, made a mistake on that one.
that's what Florida got from Detroit for the 'Tooz.

Im not as much. if not for Lou we get blown out in 2 straight games. over 70 shots against in 2 games is no fun for a new and shiny defense.

and WHY is Tanner Glass still on this team

Did Bobby Lou really lose between 15-20 lbs this off-season? He does look quicker.

he apparently did alot of bike work ... i read it was 8 pounds ... and when he hurt the groin in preseason the vancouver media was all over him saying he was stupid for cycling so much - lol

i don't know about blown out.
FLA had a lot of shots, but not too many good scoring chances (except when Bieksa turned it over).
I thought we came out hitting pretty well in the first - and THAT's a new look from the team.
With Lou playing like he is, I certainly don't mind trading 40 shots with most teams in the league.

With LA, I thought it was a fairly even game. a few missed chances either way.
We were definitely playing with fire with the penalties, though.

I do agree about Glass though, but you already knew that. (Desbiens, too)

I take Desbiens over Glass for sure ... bigger wider body guy and he is faster. went to the Kings game and he was actually noticable for me ... he and Torres skate like bulls. Desbiens and Bolduc played 4 years of junior together so there is some chemistry there ... dont know if he can generate much offense on the 4th line but then what did the 4th line do last year and he has had some chances already ... big slapper coming down the wing last night

Glass is just slow ... the late game pk he was on last night when he just chipped it up the boards and it didnt get out of the zone was atrocious

you men the big slapper than missed by 3 feet, and almost caught the rest of the team on a change? yeah, i noticed that one. Good wheels on his breakaway though.
yeah, that Glass clearing attempt was just weak. weak, weak, weak.

Which one sits when Ryp is back?

I'd go with Glass... but if Bolduc isn't back Tambi probably sits.
