Sorry Tomo, I had only planned one thread today but then I watched JGs presser. I know I have been a big Garrett supporter over the yrs, whereas some hate him and some are on the fence. We all knew today was going to be a big day because of Sam and believe me I know there is more to being a head coach than handling the tough questions in an interview and I also know we have heard the same cliches over and over from him. JG was amazing today IMO. The only thing I still may question was whether this was really his call on Sam or not. Not really sure how he feels about it. One thing for certain thought at 3:25 Sunday afternoon the 49ers are going to be at AT and T stadium. This guy is so focused. Watch the press conference for yourself and see if you dont start getting chills thinking about Sunday. Then listen to Wits interview and the rest of the guys. They are ready to go. I dont care how shitty they may seem, I think they worked their asses off this year in TC and they are more prepared than ever. I could be wrong but I will be totally shocked if they lay an egg Sunday.

I'll still take the points but I'm thinking Dallas comes out and wins.
Two score advantage would not shock me...must be week one of the NFL season.

I would love if you are right on your prediction, however I don't think there is anyway that defense can hold a team to 20 points. I am the biggest Cowboy homer ever but I think SF puts up at least 35. Cowboys offense better be able to match and score 36 to win. Hope I'm wrong

Not a fan of JG simply because he does say all the right things. Not only has it not showed up in the win/loss column, but this team still remains undisciplined (which to me is not a talent issue) and one of the most penalized teams in the NFL. This team has been no better than mediocre and I believe change is necessary. Maybe that change is after this season; unless the team makes the playoffs. he's in a crappy situation and wasn't dealt a great hand, but he's done nothing to persuade me that he can be a part of the solution. I think it's playoffs or bust for JG.

Agreed.

San Francisco is pretty banged up, so I definitely think they have a shot, but Dallas is going to have to score 36+ if they want to start the season with a "W".

You may very well be the Pro Garrett. I know the Pro version isn't on the sidelines, that is JV Garrett.

As for Sunday, it's probably just new year optimism, but I too think we go out and not just cover but outright win.

Win, Lose, or Draw...I'll be watching and happy.

If Dallas avoids the big turn over it's no way the 49ers score more than 24. The Niners aren't designed to play like that. The Niners are a run first grind it out type team. I have the Cowboys 27 -24

I have bashed garrett many times. I dont think any coach can succed with the players we have on defense. While very talented the offense is not efficient enough to make up for the defense shortcoming. Jerrah has done a shitty job of buying the groceries. After overpaying for some he is left rummaging through the dumpster to fill out the roster

Jerry is a reactionary GM. He is always 2 years too late in seeing the needs of the team. 2 years ago we were all screaming "DRAFT O-LINE". He finally started doing that. But he isn't drafting well deep in order to keep the positions he isn't drafting from falling apart. So while he addressed the Oline early in the draft, he has now ignored the defense. In 2-3 years we will be talking about the young studs we have on defense but how our RB and TE positions are lacking, and we have no QB. :gaah:

I hope he can, but with his back issues and the way the sport is played I'm not sure. Remember the play that messed his back up last year? If its the one I'm thinking of, it wasn't even a tackle but a shoe-string stumble. I'm going to hold my breath every time he hits the ground for the next 5 years.

I'm all for him playing 5 more years....provided we draft a QB next year....and the next....
