Robert Prince has been named the Boise State football program’s new offensive coordinator. He will continue to coach wide receivers.

Prince replaces Brent Pease, who took the Florida offensive coordinator job. Prince will be the third offensive coordinator for the Broncos in as many years, following Bryan Harsin (2006-10) and Pease.

Prince was the wide receivers coach at Boise State from 2001 to 2003. He was given the additional title of pass game coordinator in 2003 and was the designated heir apparent to Chris Petersen as coordinator if Petersen ever left.

Instead, Prince left for a job in the NFL. He spent six years as an offensive assistant with three teams, most recently as wide receivers coach with the Seahawks in 2009. He was wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator at Colorado in 2010 and held the same titles at Boise State in 2011.

“We are looking forward to having Robert (Prince) direct our offense,” Petersen said in a statement. “He has been working for many years to become an offensive coordinator and I know he’ll do an outstanding job for us. I’m looking forward to what type of spin he’ll put on the offense.”

Prince has six years of experience as a coordinator, but none at the major college level. He was the offensive coordinator for two years each at Fort Lewis College in Colorado (1994-95), in the X-League in Japan (1996-97) and at Portland State (1999-2000). At each of those stops, he also was the quarterbacks coach.

“My family and I are excited,” Prince said in a statement. “We love Boise, and we are looking forward to the opportunity. Offensively, we have a great staff and I’m looking forward to working with them in a new capacity.”

We don't know who the next QB is.

Both Southwick and Hedrick have gotten playing time. Several quarters worth.

They are both more mobile than Moore was.

Nick Patti is coming in also. Will be interesting to see what happens in spring ball.
