I know Bryz is really good, but that contract is ridiculous. Sorry if I were the Flyers I would have kept Richards & Carter. I understand why they did it though. Patience was wearing thin so to speak. I guess Snider finally decided enough was enough with the goalie situation.

As Rolo, Osgood, Thomas, and others have proved, goaltending is a position where the player can age like a fine wine. Bryzgalov seems like he keeps in shape so I wouldn't worry too much about his talents eroding. However I kind of thought that part of the reasoning behind dumping Carter and Richards was Homer realizing how much cash he had tied up over the next 10 years, and wanting out. This kind of backtracks on that. Oh well, at least Philly finally got a goalie.

The Flyers have acquired the rights to Phoenix goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov for a 2012 3rd round pick along with the rights to Matt Clackson. There’s also a conditional pick if we sign him.
