He is still there was on the chopping block before the Gordan debacle.

The Browns stayed true to their board and I don't necessarily blame them. They found skill position players that help solidify both offense and defense. Gordon will most likely be back before the end of the season with the NFL re-evaluating their position on weed and next year's draft can be spent on WR, S, RB, etc. In the meantime, there are plenty of stop-gaps like Austin out there available.

With that WR core, the Browns are better off throwing Hoyer to the wolves and taking it slowly with Manziel.

Which I believe is the plan. I wouldn't put Manziel back there until they feel as if their OL is one of the top 10 in the league. If he has to run for his life consistently, he's going to get killed. Never mind not having WR targets.
