Sad. There was a time when he was the best deal in the NHL. As his pay went up his play went down. Still captain for two cups. I wouldn't leave the table if he sat down for dinner.
I wouldn't either, but players change as they get older and rarely do you see a guy who was as consistent as a 25 year old and he was a 35 year old. Age, physical damage, etc. all change a player.
He reached his peak in 2010 or so IMO, and apart from the 6 months before the first Cup win (Jan-June 2012) he either stagnated or declined from 2011-2016. Can't be making that much money for 6 months worth of good play.
