Of course I would not make that assessment before they play some play off games together.

My understanding of Bush League tactics:

In nature while a snake is defending itself it will wait to use it's venom for as long as possible. 2 things here. 1st and foremost, to be in a defensive position one needs to be attacked or put in a position of vulnerability. 2nd, in the defense of ones self the measures become more drastic as it becomes more necessary to survive.

I do not often see teams poised to do great things use bush league tactics is basically all I am saying, and preseason is a little early to be defending yourself.

You can try and spin this and say that snakes also use venom to hunt and kill their prey, sure. But that is a calculated plan. There is nothing calculated about bush league tactics.

Nice, but only one point of contention. That being, as TF12has already pointed out, sending a message. Hardly a spin. How many times are these teams going to face each other? Why not let them know what they're in for? Hey, if you can't take the flames, then simply don't poke the dragon...

Seems simple if you ask me...

It is bush league plain and simple. Great teams do not need to utilize bush league tactics so the rest of the league will take them seriously.

Please. How long have you followed sports? The Raiders were KNOWN for it, as were the Celtics back in the day. Rough, yes, probably even somewhat unnecessary. Bush league? Sorry, but I don't agree...

If the Heat get roughed up tonight I guess "bush league" worked...

You guys must not have watched the Heat for the last 3 years? This Heat team is going to let a team rough them up/get dirty with them without responding with a dirty play of their own? You must've been living under a rock for the last 3+ years

In preseason? The whole point is that it is in preseason.

You think the Heat players doesn't know Pierce/KG tactics by now? Back in 2011 they tried for the entire 4 game season series to rough the Heat up and how did that work? Boston got their ass handed to them in 5 short games. You really think Pierce acting like a fake tough guy i going to bother them especially in the preseason. Bully ball don't work against the Heat. Being physical doesn't work against Miami. Being talented and execution at the end of game is what you need in order to beat Miami in a best of 7 series. 5 teams have tried that against Miami and those teams are 0-5 against Miami. The 2 teams who beat/came closest to beating Miami in a series didn't try that crap.

Lol, Lord let's hope so by now. I agree, punchline. It'd be stupid NOT to expect it...

As far as the rest we'll see if the past=the present...

1) I wouldn't say a mere hard foul here and there is exactly 'Bush League.'
2) Miami will definitely take this game seriously. Beginning of the season or not.
3) Brooklyn matches up well with EVERY team in the league, not just the Heat. If they were gearing up to beat a specific team it would be Chicago. That's who eliminated them last season.

Centers:

Brooke Lopez, Joakim Noah, Roy Hibbert, Greg Oden?

Power Forwards:

Kevin Garnett, Carlos Boozer, David West, Chris Bosh

Small Forwards:

Paul Pierce, Luol Deng, Paul George, Lebron James

Shooting Guards:

Joe Johnson, Jimmie Butler, Lance Stephenson, Dwayne Wade

Point Guards:

Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, George Hill, Mario Chalmers

Based on the comparisons by position, I'd say Brooklyn matches up favorably with every team at the top of the Eastern Conference. Do the math. Word.

Are you guys seriously saying that Pierce's little bump on Lebron was dirty or a bush league play? When did you Heat fans become such pussies?

And I highly doubt the Heat are the only team that the Nets are paying attention too.

A battle of the 2 oldest teams in the league. Should be interesting.

Nets 124 Heat 88
Lopez 42 points 5 blocks 2 rebounds
Lebron 30 points 9 assists 8 rebounds

Nets show Heat and rest of East who the best team is. Also I would say the Nets match up with the Bulls and Pacers just as well because they have the size to contend with them. Only possible problem is defending the wing but hopefully Kirlenko will be able to do just that. Also the Nets are big at every position in their starting 5. My concern is chemistry so I really don't expect them to do good for the first month or so.

These teams are old, Nets more than Heat.

When did playing tough through the first 50 years of the league now turn into bush antics ?

Please watch the 80's. Classic pounding.

We have some frail fans these days

Like the Bulls-Heat game the other night, this game won't tell us much either way because the Nets are still working on their rhythm / chemistry (given all the new faces). In other words the Nets team you see out there tonight will likely be much better after 20-30-40 games of playing together as a unit (again, just like the Bulls).

Hopefully it'll be an entertaining game... I can't stand the Heat so GO NETS!!
