No .... he wasn't making much anyway.

But does take the circus aspect out of the locker room and media.

might give us 470k in cap room? Takes awhile for the cap sites to be updated. If anyone knows off the top of their head it would be nets..... but yeah gonna be somewhere under 1/2 million if any

I bet once all the legal process takes place and he's out of jail he'll try a comeback.

I'd take that bet with you.

He wasn't a good player anyway... much less a superstar. Taking time off and trying to come back??..... even if he wanted to he wouldn't have a .0009% chance

If anything it clears a roster spot for someone who might help the team or allow us to evaluate a younger player that might not have gotten the invite due to not having room on the 90 man roster.

I ill be rooting for Josh to get it together. He has made a big mistake with being behind the wheel and being held responsible for his close friends death. The marijuana smoking and testing + for that wont get him any style points from the commish. It was time..."Good luck Josh Brent your going to need it...You can better yourself...leave the football behind and become a man

hope he learns while he spends time in the jail. I don't think he will get a huge sentence. I thought he was an ok player.

Lets hope he gets it together. He possibly could be coming back in a year or two.

To be honest we save on him due to the fact the dead money from guarantees was only like 12k. I just do not know what his base salary was for this year. I would assume around 750k so in reality we probably saved about 700k on the cap. To my knowledge as of today we have about 10MM in cap space, minus the deal for Bell which I have not seen as of yet.

I would expect that we use this extra space to carry over as well as sign Lee and possibly Dez (depending on terms $$$$$) to a new deal by mid season. I'd say if Lee was not signed by mid year it would shock me.

I was talking to a Cowboys scout and he said that he and the team actually believed Brent was going to be a major player, as in starter that would allow the team to cut Rat in the next season or so. They also believe the samething about Crawford and Wilber, which is why they would not budge on their terms on a new contract for Spencer. Lets hope that they are right. I am a huge Crawford fan, believe he is a major player waiting to happen. I do agree he has no chance in hell of coming back and making it in the NFL though unless all is said and done by end of this year.

I'm real high on Crawford myself. I think he makes people forget about Spencer REAL FAST.

It is possible, we will see though. I would hope we would try to trade Spencer if Crawford looks good going into the season. Would give us more beef on the DE's and allow us to carry more cap space to next year as any space that is not used this year carries over to next season, also gives us something back in addition to him leaving.

In all honesty we could have cleared our cap problems by this year if we had only not tagged Spencer or if we trade him. We would have about 21MM in cap space right now, which could be carried over to next years cap.

I agree....... I'm not high on Spencer. His best year was still worse than a hurt D Ware.
This defense is prefect for Crawford who was undersized in the 3-4. Something about the kid I really like. Very high motor.

Doubt we would get much for Spencer. I thought we had a shot at trading him to the Chargers til they picked up Freeny. Think now it would come down to an injury on a major contender to move him.

Plus .... to me I don't see us a Superbowl team yet. Too many holes.
That money would go along way to securing Lee and Dez. Who unlike Spencer will be here for years to come.

BTW if anyone didn't already know. It's been announced Spencer wont be back with the Cowboys after this year. So the wishful thinking on him signing a deal you can stop.
