How dumb can guys get?

Redskins rookie cornerback Bashaud Breeland was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana on the campus of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond on Monday, the night before the team ended its three-week training camp in the city.
Breeland, 22, was issued a summons for simple possession of marijuana at 10:40 p.m. by Edwin Alvarez, a VCU Police Department officer. No additional information was made available by a campus police department spokeswoman, citing pending adjudication. A hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26.

The fact that strike one came in public might mean a suspension. Its one thing if the NFL catches you, its something else if its out in public BEFORE the NFL knows about it

Well, Chase Minnifield has to be happy with this news.

I'm torn what to do here. A part of me says cut his ass. This is another Fred Davis in the making. But another part of me says give the guy one more chance. Place him on the PS for the year and set very firm expectations, along with regular testing. He fails one more and he is gone.

Its called a controlled substance for a reason. they control it to make money off of it. Give it five years and it will be recreationally legal every where. Washington and Colorado are the pilot programs.

He shouldn't if he plays in the NFL.

If it were PED he would get 4 games, but not sure about recreational first time. Could just mean increased drug testing and no time missed, from the league at least.

Well that is strike 1, is strike 2 a 4 game suspension?

I thought that too. However according to the NFL/NFL Drug Policy section IV. B. I think he could get 4 games now

B. Discipline for Violations of the Law.
A player will normally be subject to discipline up to and including suspension without pay for four regular and/or post-season games for a first violation of the law related to substances of abuse other than alcohol and for six regular and/or post-season games for a second violation of the law related to substances of abuse other than alcohol. A player’s treatment history may be considered by the Commissioner in determining the appropriate degree of discipline. The suspension period may be extended if medically necessary, and, if extended, may involve mandatory treatment if required by the Medical Director.

He would've been better off beating the shit out of a college coed.

He may have been cited for possession but has he been tested yet is the main question that needs answering if he has it in his system

Not really. Goddell has shown that he is capable of punishing players for breaking social laws. Possession is against the law in the state of Virginia. If Breeland doesnt get four games I will be shocked.

he will be punished for having it in his possession but if it's not in his system they can't punish him for that too that's why I was wondering if they gave him a drug test

Actually the CBA says that Goddell holds the power to punish for ANY infraction that has the potential to damage the NFL brand.

He did the most horrible thing imaginable. He should've beaten up a woman like Ray Rice or cornered a woman in the bathroom for sexual assault like Ben Roethlisberger. Hope they ban him for life

You don't punish him for smoking pot. You punish him for being an idiot and putting himself and his team in this position. Wether you agree with the rules or not, he knew them and signed up for them when he signed his contract. Every contract has a clause that stipulates the player will adhere to all league rules, including those dealing with banned substances.
