Someone to pick the slack of Mohamed Sanu's drops?

LaFell is a decent blocker. He's a good route-runner. This position's first two responsibilities.

He would be a good signing. There was nothing wrong with him last year other than he wasn't healthy. As someone who would get less than 50 targets on the season (half as many as Gio, 2/5th's as many as Eifert, and 1/3rd as many as Green), he would be a perfect fit for 2016.

our offense is made of glass.

we might as well sign Tebow to be a backup, because he would eventually play TE, QB, WR, and FB as well as special teams and probably be a line backer since we're too poor to sign Dansby, we would also get our trick play wildcat back.

you know you like that shi7.

Brandon Tate and Tebow will be running this shizzle by week 17.

I'd be fine with the signing but WR should still be seen as the top need going into the draft

What they need is a guy that can help take the top off the defense. Jones could do that. While AJ can get down field, having a guy opposite of him that can help in that regard opens everything else up underneath for Dalton.

I'm wondering if Alford would really be any worse than Sanu.
I get the feeling that the kid could actually play for us

4.41-4.67 sanu 40
4.27-4.32 alford 40
advantage alford

hands
advantage alford

route-running
... probably a toss up...
this is Alford's weakness.

Put him in the slot against slower nickle/dime DB's and LB's, and despite poor routes, he'll get open with his speed.

Question is can Dalton hit him in stride so he doesn't have to adjust his route constantly?

I have a feeling we will be fine. I am perfectly good with LeFell for a 2 year deal, maybe 3 if we have to if it is cheaper. Draft a WR in round 1 or 2 of this years draft, and see what Wright and Alford can do along with Green, Eifert, Kroft, LeFell and the rookie WR. I think that will be perfectly fine, and then I hope Tate eventually gets cut before opening the season if Alford can catch on to that role of punt and kick returner with Pacman.

I still think that LB is our biggest need in round 1, if we can get our hands on an average #2 WR with experience, while drafting a WR in round 2 and giving Alford and Wright more opportunities.

I really want Darren Lee. Not just because I am a homer, but because I think he would be perfect for this defense with Burfict on one side, Maualuga in the middle, and Rey backing up all 3 positions and Dawson backing up the two outside slots.

I would go like this if at all possible. I still prefer best player available unless we are three or four deep at the position, but I would go with:

#1 - OLB
#2 - WR
#3 - S
#4 - DT
#5 - OG/C

I'm probably dreaming, but I envision Alford streaking deep to keep the safeties honest, opening things up in the middle for Green and Eiffert.

He definitely has the speed, but his height makes him a bit of a liability on the outside with Dalton's less than accurate deep arm downfield. Dalton would have to put it on a dime if Alford doesn't have 5 yards of separation.

I still envision Alford as being that slot guy that no LB or safety can keep up with and pulling the Andrew Hawkins moves out from time to time.

Tate will get cut when Marvin retires.

It's how I would use Braxton Miller. Any team that drafts him, that is going to be the go-to while he learns the position more.

The more and more I think about it, the more and more I think he's the kind of guy that will excel at WR. Like Edleman (He was a former QB, right?) only like much taller and much bigger, and much faster. The upside looks more and more like it outweighs the downside...and I'm usually against OSU type picks....

I think the LB is ok. Most defense play Nickle now more than 50% of the time anyway, so that still leaves Burfict/Rey as your primary LB's in those sets. It's a need, but not a 1st round need.
