Ok, both of these teams are in the mix for a protected seed, but one is clearly a few seed spots above other in Bracketologies today.

Which one deserves a higher seed? No RPI numbers, just qualitative data.

Team #1:
Major conference
3 losses, 1 in conf
Has beaten a total of 5 teams predicted to be in the field
Best win is 10-15 in NET ranking and came at home
No bad losses
Worst loss was by 23 points on the road

Team #2:
Major conference
3 losses, 1 in conf
Has beaten a total of 2 teams predicted to be in the field
Best win is 10-15 in NET ranking and was on neutral floor
No bad losses
Worst loss was by 34 points on a neutral floor

Team 1 should probably be a spot or 2 higher based of this data but if probably want a range of their SoS and efficiency numbers to be more sure

Team 1 has better wins, team 2 has been more efficient and has a better SOS.

I'll be doing my bracket update Monday, it'll be interesting to see where these two teams land. If I had to guess they'd be on the same line or team 1 will be a seed list higher.

It will be interesting to see how teams are seeded when the reveal comes out. That will be pretty telling. Will they look more so towards resume(wins/SOS) or efficiency? Oddly enough, that will determine how many mids get in because some have better efficiency numbers than resume numbers.

Team #1 deserves the higher seed. A 34-point loss on a neutral floor is a bad loss - no matter who it was against.

Team 1 is Marquette and team 2 is Kentucky.

Kentucky has been rated 2 seed lines above Marquette (ESPN) and it appears largely based on the new NET. Got some holes...

Every ranking system has its drawbacks.

I was pretty wrapped up in FB season, so I haven't paid a lot of attention to BKball yet. I don't know what Marquette has done, but I'm aware of some of Kentucky's deeds. I would imagine the Wildcats are over-rated.

Big win for UK today that helps validate their seed

That said, time to stop with the Auburn preseason hype carrying so much weight for them.

They’ve lost every single one of their tough games.

Agreed. Auburn is now 0-4 against Q1 teams. Best win is at home against either Murray State or Washington, neither of which are guaranteed to be an at-large. They feel like a good 8/9 candidate at the moment, despite them being top 15 in the polls.
