Black Friday Opponent could change starting in 2018

Nebraska and Iowa will play each other on Black Friday through 2017, but there are no guarantees beyond that.

Mark Rudner, the Big Ten’s senior associate commissioner for television administration, told the Cedar Rapids Gazette it's possible the Iowa-Nebraska game could move from Thanksgiving weekend in future schedules.

“We haven’t seen the schedule yet, (we) haven’t done it yet,” Rudner told the newspaper. “It could be Iowa-Minnesota in the last week. Nebraska-Wisconsin. We just don’t know.”

Interesting that Rudner floated Nebraska-Wisconsin in a quote. It's even more interesting when you consider Rudner also told the newspaper the 2018 schedule could be completed and released within a month.

So you'd guess he has a good idea about where things are headed.

What do you say? Who'd you rather see the Huskers play on Thanksgiving weekend: Iowa or Wisconsin?

Always thought your main rival should be Wisconsin. Especially now since I bet come 2018 you will have some decent history with Wisconsin.

Only 2 years into the b1g and Nebraska/Wisconsin have both beaten each other and already brewed up some dislike between fans. Can't imagine what it will look like come 2018.

Will Wisky be in your guys' division when it get realigned? If so, that adds even more to this brewing rivalry.

I was about to say a non-conference game would make no sense, but I guess Florida/FSU do it and so do other schools. But, what is wrong with Wisconsin? Of course, the Badgers could fall back into oblivion with the coaching change, or this new coach carries them even further. But hard to imagine Wisconsin continues their conference dominance.

You know Texas wouldn't accept. They would probably thumb their nose at Nebraska, but Oklahoma would be pretty cool.

Yep, Wisky will be the other main threat in West Division starting next year. Other teams are Iowa, Northwestern, Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota

NW is good now, but I am sure one of two thigns will happen. That young coach gets a better gig and leaves, and NW falls back down, or currently NW is just at their high point and will fall regardless who their coach is soon.

I hope Whomever they decide on is gonna be a permanent fixture on that date. One team, designated for the same date every year, that is how a rivalry is made. Something that is consistent. Nebraska doesn't have a natural rival in the B1G. One needs to be created. Wisconsin is fine. NW would be even better, as they seem to be developing a little swagger. Iowa would be best. (I have lots of buddies who are Iowa fans.) Just pick one and lets stick with it.

I'd like it to be Penn State to but we lose that annual game after 2014 or 2015. Fuck Wisconsin. We can hate them but they aren't going to be a rivalry any more than Missouri was. You have to have respect for it to be a rivalry and there likely will be no respect from either side, at least fans.

If not Penn State I would want Iowa but they even want to get rid of their Iowa State game since they found out they show up to play.

A non conference opponent will do but as much as wisky might do it they have a new coach a new direction and might not be on top like they have been big ten wise

Call Texas and OU and tell em will play em home and home or cowboy stadium

That what we can using it as a recruiting tool for down south players.

Yeah, I'm not hooked on the Iowa black Friday thing. I never got hooked on Colorado the day after Thanksgiving either.

It hasn't seemed right without Oklahoma.

The difference is Colorado was only good 2 or 3 of the years we played them
