I think that everyone can agree that the Nets made some nice moves this off season. Even aging, Garnett and Pierce are still high quality players coming over from Boston. AK47 and Jet should provide some depth and this team should be strong in the regular season and able to contend for the East in the playoffs.

That is if they can find the chemistry and heart that seemed to be missing come playoff time last season. To do this the team needs a leader, which they appeared to lack from my perspective. All this talent without a leader could be squandered. So whose team is the Nets? It could be any of the starters, so let's see:

J. Johnson---I rule him out, just not vocal enough and I have never seen much heart from him; and with Pierce there now I would have him take the final shot, not Johnson.

B. Lopez---While a very nice player (though he should rebound better as a big man) I can not see him leading a team. He looks like he is interested in doing his role and contributing, but not as a leader; maybe others who see the Nets more often than I have more insight.

P. Pierce---Was the leader of the Celtics for a long time and led them to a championship. It is hard to step back when you have been and are a natural at leading the team. Pierce managed to share with Garnett, but can he do it with other guys he does not yet know as well and may not respect as much?

K. Garnett---Has always been a vocal leader (even if Pierce was the leader of the Celtics in my opinion). He's the guy to get the heart into a team, though his fiery style can cause strife and make guys cry (Big Baby).

D. Williams---As point guard he is in the natural position to take a leadership role. I think he wants the leadership role and believes he can do it and has been the leader of this team (I think). I have not seen enough of the Nets first had to know if he leads these guys well, but it didn't work in the playoffs last season and will a lack of success make it difficult to lead vets like Pierce and Garnett.

So who do you think will step up and lead the Nets in their attempt to dethrone the Heat?

Personally, I think it is D. Will's team. Garnett and Pierce will add heart to this team that it lacked. Garnett will be the vocal fire them up guy still, he can't do anything else. But on the court both Pierce and Garnett are mature enough to realize that D. Will needs to lead this team and let him do it.

If it is any ones team it is Dwills but honestly I do not think they are going to make a big deal about this, they all seem pretty mature and are all veterans.

I wasn't trying to say they would make a big deal about it, it should just be something that comes around naturally as part of team chemistry. But it seemed like something that was lacking last year. And DWill seems to me someone who could get testy with so many guys who have been leaders on the team. And that is not even bringing in a rookie coach who is also used to being the on court leader.

KG will probably be the vocal leader even if he plays the least out of any of the starting 5. The only way we get past the Heat though is if Lopez dominates offensively. Hibbert looked great against the Heat and Lopez's offense is miles ahead of Hibberts. Lopez was 6th in PER in the league last year with no offensive spacing due to Evans and Wallace. This team will go as far as Lopez takes them.

They will probably give the Heat some trouble but Hibbert was not huge for Indy because of his offence, it was his defense and rebounds that was brutal. Lopez matches up well for Bosh.

Garnett will be the leader and D-Will is in training for the position. You cant just turn off a born leader like Garnett. Hopefully he will know when to fade to the background at times while he shows D-Will how its done.

Trust me, I've been watching the Celtics since I moved to Boston back in 1973.

Smart opposition teams will let Jason Terry have the ball in crunch time and try to keep it away from Paul Pierce.

Terry THINKS he's as good as he once was, but simply isn't. Pierce, by contrast, understands
that he can't do as much as he once could, but finds ways to make up for it.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett >>>> most of the rest of your roster >>>> Jason "Jet" Terry.
