It is most certainly not necessary and OU is done with the Texas crap. Boren made that clear when he told the Big 12 if they didn't give Mayfield his last year of eligibility they could shove it and we were gone that year. Shit changed the very next day when he did that. Texas is not longer relevant, period.
Will the bubble ever burst or will it just keep getting bigger and bigger?Looks like everyone is losing ground to the BIG at $50+million for each school.
Except for Texas of course.
That would be a smooth transition for the Big 12 to become a G5 conference. The B-12 should go ahead & add UCF & USF for the additional recruiting & exposure it can bring. Then, once UT & OU jump ship, the league can back-fill with Cincinnati & Houston so that everyone else doesn't have to waste their time looking for a new home.

Instead, I think they'll just continue to divide the revenue by 10 and suck all the money out of it as long as possible. Then they'll just shoot it dead.

Agreed...that is what I was referring to.Without Oklahoma & Texas, the Big 12 would be a G-5 conference, anyway. This would just make things a little easier for all involved.
Texas and OU leaving aint happening now, a Big12 raid on the PAC is more likely at this point BUT lets say for conversation sake you are correct. * I'm not sure the B-12 has what it takes to entice any of the Pac-12 schools to jump.
Why would the current members want to take a paycut now by sharing our revenues with UCF/USF ect. When we could add all 4 at some point if/when Texas and OU (or anyone else for that matter) leave? * Currently, the league only has one good state to recruit from, and that is Texas. Adding the Florida schools practically doubles their current prime recruiting territory & gives the league much more visibility, which eventually translates to more value to the networks in future negotiations. If you wait for Texas & Oklahoma to leave, then you are down to 8 teams and will fall behind the AAC in the pecking order.
Its not like anyone else is after UCF/USF in the meantime so...If ya gonna start over, start over with as much money as possible. * Adding the Florida schools is a win/win. It raises the league's visibility & recruiting access, and also does the same for the Knights & the Bulls. It also means teams like West Virginia & Oklahoma St. will still have a home if/when the big dogs leave. Otherwise, you're looking at a scramble to get into the AAC.
Take it from a man who was an insider, as long as Texas is happy there will be a Big12 and the rest of us Longhorn lapdogs (including OU) will yap yap yap on command.. * If things haven't changed by the time the Grant of Rights expires, don't be surprised if Oklahoma jumps ship - with or without the Longhorns.
Zier: Upgrading football facilities a must for USF

Because then you have at least brought UCF and USF to P5 levels rather just adding 4 midmajors and guaranteeing that the Big12 is really just the AAC West.Texas and OU leaving aint happening now, a Big12 raid on the PAC is more likely at this point BUT lets say for conversation sake you are correct.

USF has already been at the "P5" level, same with Cincy, same with UConn from their BigEast days. Didn't mean squat for the AAC when realignment happened, wont mean squat for ____ conference if it happens again.Because then you have at least brought UCF and USF to P5 levels rather just adding 4 midmajors and guaranteeing that the Big12 is really just the AAC West.

Please list the big wins for those teams. I think Syracuse might be USF’s Best win since 2011 with several seasons not being bowl eligible.USF has already been at the "P5" level, same with Cincy, same with UConn from their BigEast days. Is that money or some sort of VD from railing sheep in Morgantown? JK

Only by associationRutgers is a P5 right?
