Per Jon Rothestein.

Pretty interesting reaction to the larger P6 conferences going to 20 games. A few teams have Home and homes scheduled so I'm curious if those will be incorporated or not

That would be great to see.

I think the Big 12 is a notch ahead of the Big East, at least this year.

That said, Villanova has owned Kasnsas and pretty much the entire conference, at least recently.

Luckily it starts next year ;)

There's a couple decent matchups this year in MU vs Kansas, MU vs KState, Nova vs Kansas, and Creighton vs Oklahoma off the top of my head. I expect 2-2 in those four.

That's true. It's kind of already happening. Marquette has been bad in early season out of conference. Hopefully, they can win one of those games.

Their OOC schedule is ridiculous.

Hypothetically if it were to have happened this year, match ups could have potentially looked like this:

Villanova vs. Kansas
Marquette vs. Kansas State
St. John's vs. West Virginia
Butler vs. Texas
Xavier vs. Iowa State
Providence vs. TCU
Seton Hall vs. Texas Tech
Creighton vs. Oklahoma
Georgetown vs. Baylor
DePaul vs Oklahoma State

Essentially this is how I feel the teams will fall as far as standing goes. Fortunately, we get to see Nova vs. KU and Marquette vs. KState this year. IMO those are the top 2 teams in these leagues.

Providence plays at Texas, should be a good match up.

VS Belmont L
VS Iowa L
VS LSU W
VS ASU W
VS Wisconsin W

VS Vanderbilt W
VS Michigan L
VS Pittsburgh L
VS Georgia W
VS Fresno St W
VS Wisconsin L

VS Purdue L
VS VCU W
VS Wichita State L
VS LSU W
VS Georgia L
VS Vermont W
VS Wisconsin W

I included the AAC, A10 and MWC as a step above mid majors. and Belmont and Vermont are pretty unanimously recognised as consistent top tier mid majors. So 7-6 against traditional P6 10-8 against respectable teams. Not great but not Bad necessarily.

Granted, I'm not that familiar with all the teams in the Big 12.

Both leagues are built on having consistent programs, but the Big 12s are a little stronger and they have no weak link like DePaul.

They have not been able to beat the top teams in OOC. They get going once the conference starts.

Butler, Creighton, Seton Hall, Providence, Xavier and Villanova have all been able to win their big OOC games the past few years. It's why the Big East has such a high RPI.

Wojo has really loaded the schedule this year. It could be ugly but I'm rooting for them.

I think both leagues are in somewhat of a rebuild.

Looking at the Big East. Nova will still be good obviously, but they lose a lot off last years team. Xavier loses Bluiett and Macura, Creighton loses Foster and Thomas, Seton Hall loses Rodriguez, Carrington and Delgado. Butler loses Martin, but I think they'll be capable of replacing him. The transfer they have coming from Duke should be a big help. St John's might have the best backcourt with Ponds and Heron.

IMO I think the top 3 is Nova, Marquette and then St. John's. St John's is loaded in the back court with Ponds, Heron, Dixon and Simon. You could see a lot of 3/4 guard sets with them. They are noticeably thin on the front court.

The Big 12 also loses a ton of players. KU lost a ton(but will still be good obviously). Texas Tech lost a ton. The Big 12 was extremely deep last year, even the bottom teams like OU, Texas, Baylor and Oklahoma State were in contention to make the tournament. Baylor and Oklahoma State lose a lot of production, my guess is they end up as the two worst teams, with TTU being right there with them. On the flip side Kansas State returns everyone of significance off an elite 8 team. It should come down to them and KU, but the Weber effect might come into play.

Either way I'm glad about this challenge.

He’s loaded it because he loves this group. The next two years are his make or break. We ain’t beating Kansas. Indiana will be tough. But beating Buffalo, Kstate and Bucky at home are all very doable as well as the UL game(assuming KU and Tennessee win). Slip up, and hopefully snag the Indiana game as a replacement.

Issue is we have a bunch of potential cupcake drags on the schedule. Need to blow them all out.

Wojo has got his size and depth to win these games for a change. Hopefully Sam is 100% at seasons start. A bummer Elliot is out but someone wasn’t gonna get minutes anyways. So the decision was made for us, even tho he’s a key defender.

Also, if the Kstate game counts as the challenge next year. Marquette scheduled it smartly.

Home this year when we are potentially a really solid team and get Kstates full returning squad at home

Play at Kstate next year when they lose key pieces and we are stacked.

oh we're beating Kansas. QUentin Grimmes will rue the day he chose them over us.

Big East should start a challenge with the WCC since those conferences have similar makeups

This is a terrible idea. Outside of the top three programs there's no programs in the WCC that all even decent mid majors let alone high majors. Meanwhile We've been the second or third best conference in the country every year.

If Gonzaga was anywhere east of Wyoming, they'd be in the Big East.

They're private, catholic, don't have football, and fit the mold of the Big East perfectly.

Similar, but the Big East has been a top 3 conference since they split 5 years ago. WCC isn't even a top 8 conference.
