Big 12 Commisioner Neinas Suggests Major Change Coming to BCS Format - BeyondU Sports

While this bodes will for non-AQ conferences, such as the Mountain West or Conference USA, it would eliminate the two-team limit the current BCS format permits within a conference.

If you are wondering what the potential new format will be, one proposal that is being discussed is allowing the overall top ten BCS schools play in five BCS bowls regardless of conference affiliation.

well that will be interesting......would they just then make sure by polls that one school from each conference(the big conferences) will make it anyways????? like voting the B1G champ into a top 10 spot regardless

nope. They will just change the BCS to the SEC championship - no one else will be allowed into the top 10 until every SEC team has at least 2 losses

That made the rounds on the MWC board and while I am not surprised THEY fell for it I am a little surprised some here are.

This does NOT bode well for the middies. I am NOT drinking the kool aide at this point.

Note he says one POSSIBLE change is the top 10 teams are taken. Well that's a load of horseshit and not going to happen. They will say oh the top 3-5 must be taken and after that the bowls can select from the remaining top 16 or 20.

Fact: they want to get away from the 2 team per conference restriction.

Fact: the bowls want to go back to traditional tie ins they do not want to take middies or BE or even some ACC teams.

Fact: They need to throw something out there to end the threat of lawsuits the crux of which is the whole AQ status for some conferences.

So they throw up this smokescreen of one possible configuration will be to take the top 10 and then they will set it up to pretty much go back to the tie ins unless some interloper breaks the top 3-5 bar and then grudgingly will be allowed into a BCS bowl. Note right now it's top 12 under the new configuration it will be much, much higher.

But by and large under the new arrangement the power will shift back to the major players ie the SEC, Big 10 PAC and Big 12. And they are tossing this drenn out there hoping to fool everyone into not seeing what they are really up to.

NOT ONLY is this a load of horseshit with respect to being a boon for middies it's a triple load of cow dung that it's WHY teams are moving from one conference to another.

IT'S THE TV MONEY STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TAMU and Mizzou are not leaving the Big12 AQ conference for the SEC because of AQ or an easier path. The BE members leaving are not leaving for AQ considerations. Colorado did not leave for AQ considerations. BE trying to save itself by adding BSU has torn away the veil of what CFB really is all about and they are trying to patch it up by tossing this crap out. A BE move means triple the money at a minimum for BSU over the MWC and AQ is just icing on the cake. It's about the tv money.

I am appalled some of you are falling for this. Wanna buy a bridge?

As long as people can vote on where teams are ranked they can do pretty much what they want.

Shift back?

Ok you have a point.

Will revert back to the iron fisted no daylight deathgrip they had as opposed to the sliver of hope and token bone that now exists.

Those polls need to be made public each and every week

No more of this shadowy secret coaches ballot only made public at the end.
