Interesting stuff and Schenn's move makes perfect sense. He'll be back and if Couturier proves he should stay they'll keep him too I'm just not sure where? Unless a guy like Read falters...

If Walker doesn't stay its due to his cap it. Lilja better prove himself as I'd rather have Gusty or Bartulis here at least they're young.

Betts being waived surprised me a bit but if you are a 4th line center you better at least win draws...hopefully Talbot gets better at that. I'm ok with Rinaldo and Nodl flanking him they'd be a decent 4th line.

Let's play some hockey!!!

schenn does not even have to play in the AHL. All he has to do is miss 1 NHL game and the bonus drops $1.4. :becky:

wow.. cool read on schenn working his contract so it doesn't bone him out of an NHL job.. smart kid..

and also good to read that stuff about simmonds working his ass off to make the kings a couple years back.. thats good stuff.. i hope it rubs off on schenn and some of the other young guys

Saving $1.405 million off the cap is a huge deal. That automatically gives you the space to trade for a nice player at the deadline and pay him that much prorated for the remainder of the season. The actual season long cap hit of this unknown player could be more like $4.2 million, but since we'd only have him for a third of the season, $1.4 million would cover him.

With our top 5 he is only going to have to play maybe 10 minutes per night. Regular shift with no special teams. Hopefully on of the young guys developes and we dont need him the 2nd half:eek2:

lilja can't be waived.. he's on a 35+ contract.. the only way lilja comes off the books is if he's traded

awaz trying to be a mind reader:
i think homer sent schenn down to clear room to keep couturier up for the 9 games, get him some NHL experience, before sending him down, at which time schenn would come back up. if couturier impresses, then i'd look for an early season trade to clear a top 9 spot for schenn. and if that happens, and lilja's play hasn't been up to par, i would look for walker to move up too (assuming 4 mil is moved, there would be room for walker as well).. that is of course, assuming he isn't claimed today

i also expect betts and bartulis both to be claimed

and i hope couturier needs to be more impressive, and he got the 9 games to get him experience, not because homer is convinced already.. sbisa wasn't ready the last time they had a first round pick, i worry that they'll do the same w/ couturier

didnt finish my reading before posting.. looks like the flyers (especialy lava) are expecting walker to be in the opening night lineup.. which i think is good.. kind of odd they waived him though?
