3-2001 Vince misses last second shot vs Sixers in game 7 of ECF
4-2017-2018 probably but a very flawed team

The 1971 Milwaukee Bucks

66 - 16 season record
12 - 2 playoff record
Sweeping the Baltimore Bullets in the finals

71champs-1100.jpg

BACK ROW: Trainer Arnie Garber, Greg Smith, Marvin Winkler, Jeff Webb, Bob Grecean, Gary Freeman, Assistant Coach Tom Nissalke, Head Coach Larry Costello. FRONT ROW: Lew Alcindor, Jon McGlocklin, Lucius Allen, McCoy McLemore, Bill Zompf, Bob Dandridge, Oscar Robertson, Dick Cunningham.

No expansion team in pro sports history earned a championship quicker than the Bucks, who captured the 1971 NBA title in just their third season of existence. The 1970-71 Bucks posted a 66-16 regular-season mark under Coach Larry Costello. In the postseason, they beat San Francisco (4-1) and the Los Angeles Lakers (4-1) before sweeping Baltimore in four straight for the title.

I was only able to watch those games on TV as was only 11 years old with nobody into the games well enough to actually go. Once I was able to drive in my last few years of high school me and a buddy went to many Bucks playoffs games in the mid 70s. Lew Alcindor lived like 2 blocks from my grandparents so would check his place out on visits to the grandparents on occasion

Why is the order of the front row players listed completely wrong? O and Kareem are obviously in the middle.

The 2003 Nets were the best team but they had no chance of beating the Spurs in finals.

The next year's team wasn't as good but had a better chance to win, because if they got past the Pistons, I think we beat the Pacers, and the Lakers I don't think were mentally ready for whatever reason, and we had a 'chance' to beat them.

And we should have beat the Pistons.

Later on, I remember Ron Artest saying he was surprised the Nets broke the team up, that they still could have been contenders... I don't know about that, but that was our window.

The 2005 San Antonio Spurs are criminally under-rated.
They were the absolute peak of smothering defense, maybe the best defensive team ever top to bottom.

Manu Ginobili should have made some all-NBA defensive teams.
He was penalized unfairly with the "soft Euro" label, even though he was A++ defender and not from Europe at all.

It is a crime that Duncan never won DPOY, and Bruce Bowen's defensive legacy speaks for itself
But, Rasho Nesterovic was the true elite monstrous defensive titan of that team for that year.

The 2005 Spurs are the best team that everyone forgets.
The whole "SPURS ARE BORING" started after 2005, because they literally sucked the life out of everyone with defense.

The 2014 team is definitely more dear to Spurs fans, as it erased the agony of 2013
But, the 2005 Spurs also had to overcome Derek Fisher and the 0.4 seconds agony of 2004.

The San Diego Padres...never. We have sucked forever. Yeah, we made to the World Series twice, and have one win to show for that. Hope springs eternal in paradise by the sea.

Could that really have been less than 0.4 seconds on that catch, turn and release? Seems doubtful. And I had forgotten that Duncan hit that shot right before. He probably hits that shot once out of every 20 tries, so in a way, the Spurs were really lucky, too. Duncan looking like Klay Thompson on that shot. LOL.

Yeah, no one really talks about the Spurs. Just not sexy enough, I guess. The best Spurs teams would be a tough matchup for any team in history, though.
