Gotta throw both the WEEN shows in here too.

Sorry, but anytime you go to see a band you love and you get 3+ hours of their music created over the last 30 years YOU. ARE. WINNING. BIGLY.

If you go see WEEN at a festival, you're getting ripped off.

Jane’s Addiction in 1989 at a free show at UC Santa Barbara. They were amazing.
I imagine the original Jane’s Addiction line up in their prime would be hard to beat.

I've been to a lot of concerts. Some of my favorites I've been to:

Merle Haggard in Cherokee, NC in 2015
Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers at Gwinnett in March of this year
Drive By Truckers, Georgia Satellites and Drivin N Cryin last year in Atlanta
Hank Williams Jr, Eric Church and Jamey Johnson in like 2010 at Gwinnett
Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle and Lucinda Williams in 2018 in Atlanta

It was most likely drug-fueled, but their energy was just incredible. They were also just really tight as a band. They had amazing chemistry, which probably also contributed to their downfall.

I saw Jerry Jeff Walker once. And Earl Scruggs Revue as well. Sometime in the late 70s at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.

Good concerts but nobody was doing the pogo on the bouncy dance floor....

My favorite was probably Flaming Lips, early on their Clouds Taste Metallic tour. Tiny club, band right on top of you practically, and as soon as the first song kicks in about 2 minutes in (The Abandoned Hospital Ship), thousands of flashing Christmas lights strung all over the club come on. Of course, this may have been drug-aided as well, but that's a permanent memory I cherish...

I saw the B-52s again last summer. They always put on a great show. Elvis Costello in concert hasn't been quite the same since the early days with the Attractions. Graham Parker, The Pretenders, Talking Heads... I think we may agree about music, if nothing else.

I'm not a fan of Springsteen.
