They're not going to spend, either. We should all really just pick another team.

Nobody wants to play for Mike Brown.

Players play for money.... Why do you think Mario signed in Buffalo? Do you think he really wanted to live in western NY? Do you think he wanted to play for a franchise that hasn't been to the playoffs in a decade? Do you think he wanted to play for an owner just like MB? Play on a team with a shitty qb?

No, he didn't care about any of that... He cared about the cash.

If the dollars are there, the players will follow.

On ESPN last night, the Bengals were named the team that was in most need of doing something. As you all have stated, the Bengals have done nothing this offseason.

Not signing anyone and not trying to keep any of their guys. The Bengals plan must be to stock up in the draft and to fill the roster out with rookie free agents.

It's really simple and out there for all to see....it's Mike Brown's last chance to scalp the cap.....he's got to spend to the floor NEXT year......as for this year, he's digging a hole, hopefully all the way to China.....

I thought I read somewhere that the FO was going to be handing out a lot of large contracts next year to current players:

AJ Green, Andy Dalton, Geno Atkins, Andrew Whitworth, Domato Peko, etc.

So if we have the cap sace for next year, we can sign all these guys to long term contracts, see how the draft picks progress this year, see where we need additional assistance in FA next year and make a run there.

I have a feeling, we will play it cool in FA this year, get some role players, some filler, maybe a starter or two like Bush or whoever, and then make our big push next year when we have to have it up to 99% spent.

Nobody will care how much he spends as long as he wins. Hopefully the team can keep getting better with a couple 1st round draft picks and a flood of young talent.

I'm calling no more than 6 wins in 2012. Our defense is going to take a huge step back unless we get some guys to rotate on that d-line.

You cannot extend rookies within the first 3 years IIRC.

Hypothetically, if we're 20 million below the cap, even if we win, we could be winning more had we spent that additional money for better players. It's all relative.

But continue toeing the company line...we get it...

Zimmer was fuming last year when we lost Joseph. I can only imagine how he feels right now...

we can only draft so many players....

The Bengals just don't understand depth.

2 players get injured and the season is over and we have a ready made excuse and another set of "high" draft picks to give us "hope"

round and round it goes.

Oh my God, did Crash actually post that he agreed with Mike Brown's "strategy"?Um, let me clue you in case you hadn't noticed in the years you have been a fan. Mike Brown doesn't give a shit about winning. His father did. Mike doesn't. Mike was quoted once saying that 8-8 was a perfect year. He will pocket the cash if he is legally entitled to do so. He probably laughs when reads criticism from fans and the media. He laughs even harder when he realizes there are still blind homers like Crash out there.

You are allowed to extend guys who are 2 years into the league. By next offseason Dalton and Green will have been in the league for 2 years.

If we push that envelop and get to 90-95% this year, we will not have money to sign our two most prized players come contract time. Give them the big extension after 2 seasons and lock them in, while using some of that cap.

I see what Brown is doing, I can't completely fault him for that, but I too would like to see some movement this offseason as I think we have a legit shot to be decent again this year.
