It was some of the best play calling I've seen form a Nebraska Offensive Coordinator in a long time.

Pretty close to flawless.

Thats more WR discipline.. Taylor checked out of the original play, and because of how jamal and taariq were lined up, they couldnt run a route without a penalty. (The outside one prolly could have..)

Props to the young guys for knowing the rules and Fish fer coachin em

I just thought it was a gimmick play by Beck to keep the DBs back away from the ball, the 2 DB's didn't know what the fuck to do, lol. Either way, great play and coaching.

And taylor was making all the right checks. He checked kenny bell into that go route for a touchdown. He was seeing the whole field. He wasn't staring down recievers, he went through his progressions.

Could it be? Is Taylor the ONE?

As I said in a thread over in the College Football forum, Taylor is uniquely gifted at the QB position. It's just a matter of whether or not he is mature enough as a 4th year Junior to handle all of this. His performance wasn't matched by any other passing QB in the country........yes I know it was Southern Miss, but who fucking cares. They are not that bad of an opponent.

There is no reason why he shouldn't be able to keep this up. This is his 3rd year starting, 2nd year in the system, and he's confident again. He heard everything that all of us had to say about him, and he ended up proving us wrong.

He set out to prove us wrong. I have said he is a gamer all along and that he was most improved for last year on the team after Wisky.

Now he took his summer to cement it. God I just hope he doesn't get hurt now.

The kid deserves every accolade given, we really have put this guy through the coals all year. What made me extremely happy was the ease at which we were able to complete the short passes for the 3rd and shorts, and the speed at which the plays got off with.

If he was throwing against air and did that I would still be impressed.

Yep day(s) as in two. 2010 okie lite before he got injured and he had to compensate and his passing went to shit because of it and Northwestern.

Nebraska home openers

2004 - Western Illinois (56-17)
2005 - Maine (25-7)
2006 - Louisiana Tech (49-10)
2007 - Nevada (52-10)
2008 - Western Michigan (47-24)
2009 - Florida Atlantic (49-3)
2010 - Western Kentucky (49-10)
2011 - Tenn-Cattanooga (40-7)
2012 - Southern Miss (49-20)

Now I know I spent all week hearing Southern Miss called 'Southern Piss', 'Sudden Miss'..et al

That they had a 'new head coach', were 'replacing a bunch of players', were oversized in the trenches, yada yada...

Now all of the sudden it was a great win?

Please :L

was very very satisfied. Exactly what I expected. Wasn't impressed with southern miss and Nebraska manhandled their front 7.

Was a great win, yes.

You could combine FAU, western kentucky and Tenn Chatt's talent and you still wouldn't have a better looking roster or team speed than southern miss.

I'm not looking at the score, I'm looking at Martinez's ability to see the field, the turnover margin, the awareness and knowledge of the system by the recievers, (sitting in zones, checking into plays, running clean routes, finding seperation) the penalites and the depth.

Style points are great and all, but the fact they took care of themselves on offense is extremely encouraging. Looked sharp.

Like I said Martinez could have been throwing on air doing what he did and it would be impressive.

With so many top 25 teams looking pathetic, you really couldn't have asked for much more. If Maher is on point and that (hopefully) fixable flukey return for a TD, this game looks even better on paper.

People are upset about the D, but it's not like they played horrible. They gave up 13.

the "the ONE" post was tongue in cheek.

And with Alford in the game, they made NU's front 7 look like last years front 7.

Meredith quits on plays (I watched him closely)
Steinkuhler doesn't appear to ever become a difference maker.

These fixture's jobs should be wide open for some of these youngin's. I love the word "ATTRITION".

Ankrah had a good game. Scared the shit out of me when he went down.

I have a favorable Martinez critique. Similar to your's but with a couple of negs. Will post it later..

I agree on Meredith. I noticed that today and Whaley looked lost seveeral times plus many missed tackles thus the C for D. Offense A

Southern Miss shot themselves in the foot on numerous occasions. Dropped passes, mis-fires, etc..

My main question...was this Bo's "bend but don't break" philosophy defense?
