I know there were several references that Vegas came out with 6.5 for the Bears over/under win total. But by the time the casinos opened the win bets up for business, they were giving the Bears 7, which of course sucks because that means they need an extra win in order to collect. I checked more than half a dozen books and all had the same count.

But I said fuck it and took my beloved bears for a whopping $40! I know, last of the big spenders, eh?

Lake Shore Drive, I know Bears fans keep wanting better things to happen for them year after year but they are in a tough division.

I rarely make futures bets simply because it ties up betting bankroll for long periods of time. All three of my shops have the Bears over/under wins at 7. I haven't looked at the Bear's schedule for 2018 but if I was forced to make this bet I would probably play the under only because I can't see them beating the Vikings, Packers, or Lions over once at the most.

Since I'm not making this bet I wish you the best with your $40 bet!

You're right . . . . . it's only money, LOL.

I do feel your pain as a Bear's fan because I'm a Redskins fan so I know what losing is all about.

I can’t remember a year where this board was as excited for the bears season since urlacher retired. I think this is the first time I am predicting a bears winning season for a very very long time. I really do think this is a case of bears fans seeing a lot of good moves that the bears don’t usually make, but everyone else writing hen off because they are the bears. The Bears could easily sweep the lions and beat the Packers and Vikings once. I doubt we see us sweep either the packers or the Vikings, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened either.

This team is probably the most balanced bears team since the turn of the 21st century. The offense has what looks to be a very solid play caller, a young and promising QB, a bunch of diverse receiving weapons, a beast of a running back, a young incredible scat back ala Sproles, and a young and very solid oline. The offense might have some bad turnovers and look out of sync at times, but I see them hanging a lot more points than they did last year.

The defense is returning The coordinator and most of the players from last year. The secondary is very solid, with young players that could really take off in Jackson, Fuller, and Amos. Trevathan and Smith could make up the best ILB tandem in the league. The DLine looks good at the top, but could use a bit more depth. The OLBs is about the same as the DLine. They have good players at the top, but they need depth. They look like an 8-8 or 9-7 team to me right now.

Last year at this time, everyone and their brother knew the bears would have a down year since they had absolutely no weapons to throw to, a Terrible QB to start the year, a garbage play caller who played it conservative every game so defenses knew what was coming, and a head coach who is well past the best of his years. The defense was the only good thing about last year and the offense could only keep them off the field for four snaps at a time.

I have them just over at 8. Still going to be a transition year to figure out who is sticking around and who is not. Not expecting greatness, just progress. Still a year away but the Bears are in a much better place than they were this time last year.

I like your optimism for your Bears to finish 8-8 or 9-7. I do know this, I saw your young QB play many times in college. He was the real deal then and I think he is the real deal now. He just needs more experience at the pro level just like all young pro QBs do.

Even though I expect Trubisky to show what he’s got this year, my reason for optimism is what’s around Him. This team is just recovering from a two year tenure from a GM, who in retrospect, was probably trying to fuck the bears over for years. And that’s exactly what he did. The new GM has been slowly building the team for three years, and now it looks like it’s starting to look pretty good. I’m expecting Trubisky to be around 20 TDs and maybe 12 picks. If he does that, the Bears could win at least 8 games.

I could see a possible 10-12 win ceiling. There’s really no one special outside of Minny, New England, LA, and Green Bay.

I am still getting it at 6.5 in my book. Odds are like -130 though.

Minus odds on a bet I can't even cash until January is far too tedious to me.

Only pre-season bet I'll make is the Chargers to win the AFC and Super Bowl. Last I saw, 14/1 and 28/1. Could be down now, though. My book took those bets down back in May. I'm sure they'll re-post.

It's not that I think the Chargers are the best team in football. However, I think they have a shot, a very good looking roster and that those odds are fantastic.

I agree with your thinking. With those odds the Chargers are worth a shot. Good luck!

Yeah, I mean. You can just look at Philly this past year. Sometimes everything clicks and you beat your estimated time of arrival by a wide margin.

However, I think 2019 and 2020 will really be when our window begins. I'm trying to temper my expectations. I'd still be legitimately happy with a 8-8/9-7 season or so. However, IF suddenly Trubisky really jumps two steps forward and Nagy is what we all hope him to be - the pieces do exist to be an intriguing team.

The whole offense and most of the targets are new and unfamiliar. Health concerns are there for a multitude of them. Our QB has only played 12 games (after 13 in college). Nagy is a newbie (as is Helfrich at the NFL level) who will need a year to make mistakes and learn.

I think there's reason for cautious optimism, but historically speaking. The likely scenario is that we're not ready to make a run towards a playoff berth, yet.

This all isn't even taking into consideration our very difficult division.

richig, the Bears are definitely a team that is moving forward in the right direction but for this upcoming season I still don't think they are on the same level with the teams in their own division yet. At best I just can't see the Bears going any better than 1-5 against the Vikings, Packers, and Lions this season. They also have the Patriots and LA on their schedule so where are the wins going to come from to equal 7 or more? With this said I do look forward to watching a much improved Bears team this season.

The division has been a problem for this team for years and years. Like I said, it really depends on Trubisky. It also depends on variables in play with GB/MIN. Will Cousins be what they're all hoping for? Will the additions in GB finally provide Rodgers a legit supporting cast? Detroit is just... Detroit. They're an average to slightly above average team. I feel we can certainly split with them.

I like having GB week 1. As nobody has any film on what this new offense will look like. This team seems pretty hungry, first game under a new regime is something that teams seem to get "up" for and an upset wouldn't totally stun me.

LA/NE being at home helps. The non-divisional schedule outside of that isn't bad. The rest of the AFC East is pretty subpar. SF is anyone's guess. AZ and SEA seem to be on the decline.

Like I said... there's so much unknown with the team. Nothing would surprise me. However, I finally feel like we do have some pieces together that could click.

Everything you said makes sense to me and especially your word 'unknown'. We can all analyze any team on paper but since the games are played on the field we will all be in for some surprises whether we like these surprises or not. Good luck to your Bears.
