Kyle Fuller on the bubble after Bears decline fifth-year option

Means that 2017 will be a "make or break" contract season for Fuller.

I like that. It's time we applied the pressure to this kid, and see what we really have. Maybe this will motivate him into finally putting a full season together. Staying healthy is obviously the first step...

Yeah, I've never seen anything like that. I had a scoped knee during my freaking HS days, after tearing a meniscus during two-a-days and I was cleared to return 3 weeks later.

... it also gave me a great excuse to skip two-a-days, and comeback in time for the fun stuff. :thumb::D

It's too bad too, cuz I liked Fuller. He came from a good pedigree, and seemed to be a skilled corner with some grit.

I don't know what happened?

Hopefully this lights a fire under his ass.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders.

With the active discussion about Trubisky/Bears' draft, I find it a little ironic Fuller was a first round defensive selection in 2014 who is not working out well to this point.
There are no guarantees on either side of the ball.

Yeah, he made such an impact so fast in that SF game in Week 2 of his rookie year, and there was so much positive vibes surrounding him. He's still had some plus game performances, but all in all... I don't know why he never was able to play well consistently. He REALLY gets pushed around by receivers bigger than he is. He has not been able to overcome that.

I dont know about this one. Yes, I get the fact that he did not push too hard to come back last year, but if he has a great year in now his free agent season, wouldn't it have been cheaper to keep the option?

This is the difference between we believe in you kid and put up or shut up. I could not find anything on what this fifth year would this have cost next year.

Reminds me of the AJ deal.... Doesn't bode well for Fuller.

Well, if Alshon would have played well and not missed time last year. He would probably still be here.

Actually, I don't think he would have stuck around for the crazy world of Russian quarterback roulette.

In March, he actually told his agent and John Clayton that he wanted to stay in Chicago, even despite everything that happened.
