Plus he had actually missed some time in previous years with arm issues. I guess it was just a matter of time which is surprising because his delivery seemed so effortless.

I was thinking he had alot of torque in his early days out of the pen. I remember watching him and thinking how this little guy could deliver that heat. He was much thinner in his early days. After he became a MLB starter it seems he did not seem to put hair has much effort.

Based on everything I've seen of him at 3B, I hope that's not the case, for someone who's played 3B most of his life, it sure doesn't look like it.... RF is my long term guess

You might be right and that is what I have always heard since we drafted him. They sure are letting him play a lot of 3B to not have plans for him there though. Even at this point they are still letting him mostly play 3B.

It could actually change and then change again. Gallo could be in the OF in 2016 and then at 3B in 2017 with Mazara replacing him in the OF.

Martin Perez goes six innings in rehab start | | Dallas Morning News

Left-hander Martin Perez, closing in on a return to the majors from Tommy John surgery, pitched six innings for Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday and allowed a pair of runs.


Perez, who had not gone more than four innings in any of his previous rehab outings, allowed Nashville of the Oakland organization six hits and didn’t walk any batters. He struck out six as he peppered the strike zone. Perez threw 56 strikes among his 79 pitches (70.9 percent).


Perez was tentatively scheduled to make another rehab start on Sunday before the Rangers made a final decision on activating him.

That is true. I do wonder if that would have happened to the extent it has had we not extended Beltre another year. I wonder if the Rangers even know how this is supposed to play out. They seem to be preparing Ryan Cordell to be ready to play multiple positions and one of those is 3B so there seems to be a lot of variables at work here.
