Top 100 MLB Prospects 2018 | BaseballAmerica.com

Jays have two top 10 guys, Vlad Jr. (#3) and Bo Bichette (#8). Pretty good chance Vlad will be #1 next year IMO.

Red Sox have only two in the top 100 (Groome and Chavis). A bit surprised to see Groome at #83, I figured he'd be a bit higher.

I love seeing these Top 100 prospects, but I get more excited for the MLB.com pipeline's unveiling of the top 100...which is this Saturday. Either way though, I'm sure it will be similar to this one. I'm surprised Robles & Brendan Rodgers are lower than I thought. Both very high still (#5 & #22 I believe), but I expected both to be higher.

Look forward to this every year. Like that they break down each team's top 30 prospects as well.

Rodgers has been good in the minors, but he hasn't really been that great save for his stint at Lancaster (.387/.407/.671) That's also a very hitter friendly ballpark (and it was driven by a .413 BABIP) and league in general. He batted .260/.323/.413 in AA after being promoted. He had some very meager walk rates (2.5% in A+ ball, 4.9% in AA) and he saw his strikeout rate spike from 14.8% in A+ to 22% in AA.

Dansby Swanson's another SS that was a high draft pick that played well in the minors, but never really excelled. Of course, Swanson also showed better plate discipline than Rodgers has thus far.

MLB.com's 2018 list is out

MLB.com 2018 Prospect Watch

No real surprises in the top 10 except maybe Kopech at #10 and Bichette at #14. Their Chavis/Groome rankings are in line with BA.

2018 Top 100 KATOH Prospects | FanGraphs Baseball

Groome's the only Sox prospect listed, though KATOH is higher on him than the other prospect lists. KATOH really likes Jake Rogers and Daz Cameron. I'm a bit surprised it has Bichette higher than Vlad Jr.

Fangraphs gets out of their lane too often, IMHO. They have Alex Canario listed at #33? He is a kid who isn’t getting some helium in Giants prospect circles, but he has yet to step foot in the states. I like him, but I am pressed to list him as a top 10 Giants prospect at this point, let alone #33 in all of baseball.

I would not say that Fangraphs has Canario at #33. KATOH is not really "their rankings", it is something different.

I think you understood what I meant, but I meant to say “He is a kid who IS getting some helium in Giants prospect circles”. My iPad often autocorrects “is” to “isn’t”.

How you fix this is, if your team is sucking and out of contention, you trade your No. 3 starter to a team that isn't sucking and out of contention on the trade deadline. You get prospects back in the deal and you suddenly go from 0 to 2 in about 15 minutes. The sucking may continue but it allows people who create these vapid lists to say ... wow, the Royals have 2 guys in the top 100 or some such thing.
