CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Red Sox "remain the favorite" to trade for Cole Hamels.

Nothing is close, and a rival general manager told Heyman that Boston "isn't blinking" when it comes to their refusal to part with Mookie Betts or Blake Swihart. However, Heyman adds that the Phillies like Red Sox outfield prospect Manny Margot, so it's possible a package could be built around him. According to Heyman, the Red Sox are still the favorites to land Hamels "thanks to their prospect depth and need."

True... I just hope the rotation isn't as bad as they've looked as of late. Been very inconsistent. A team wRC+ of 126 is obviously not sustainable.

Yeah. I'm not expecting a "crash," but the team is not going to OPS+ 123 for the season.

No offense, but I wouldn't mind watching Ventura's struggles continue. I, like most baseball fans outside of KC, don't like that guy.

My opinion is all that WAR shit is highly questionable. First, there are at least two different formulas to calculate WAR - how the fuck is that? Secondly, I wipe my ass with any formula that says Curt Schilling was a better pitcher than Bob Feller.

Yes. Easily calculated and explainable. I'm also a fan of OPS+ and ERA+ as long as you're not trying to compare modern players to Babe Ruth and shit like that.

I wouldn't be so sure. It's not like Hamels has a particularly team friendly deal, so the benefit for Philly is, to some extent, a payroll dump.

Teams don't usually take on large contracts and give up top prospects. Now, if Amaro is willing to eat some of Hamels' contract, maybe it's a different story.

We'll have to wait and see.
