I can't imagine JD, or anyone in the organization - even in the back of their minds - even entertaining such a thought.

And even if this were true, it would not be a feather in Daniel's hat to have to admit he put his eggs in the wrong basket to begin with.

This hire was made with the utmost confidence IMO.

One big improvement of Banister over Wash already is that Banister said he will not be bunting early in games but rather trying for more big early innings. Thank God!!!! I got so sick last year of watching the A's put up runs in bunches while we frequently settled for 1 run at a time. I'm all for small ball late in games, but not always early on when you can pile on the runs, knock out the starting pitcher, and put the game away.

Nothing against Banister but I sure wish we would have waited a little longer before we committed to someone. Might have had a shot a Maddon but who knew he would be available.
