I honestly hear you and understand completely where you're coming from. Like I said earlier, I'm disappointed for Bogar. Good man who will be fine and gain from the experience he garnered here.

But Bannister seems to have great support throughout baseball just like Tim Bogar does.

I don't know so much about our ownership. But I think they're smart enough to trust the FO team to make strong recommendations for them.

Now, it's really going to be interesting going forward to see how Mr Bannister sets up his coaching staff.

That will be interesting in regards to the coaching staff.

I think you have to do what you need to do that will be what is best for the organization so I have no problem with us doing our due diligence. And I hope Bannister is great. But the reasons I am reading do not get me all excited. Bogar was good enough to be the Assistant to RW and his past experiences with Francona and Maddon who both have high praise for him, his success as a manager in the minors, and what he did in his short time here. Some may be basing it on just his short time as manager at the end of the season but I was looking at the body of work. Now if Bannister can be a hitting coach like Hurdle then sign him up as hitting coach. Just kidding on that one. But 29 years with the same organization. Not too sure about that. But like I said I will be pulling for the guy as I want us to get back to being a better ball club. I am just not a "yes" man just because JD and our supposed brain trust (owners) chose him. I am not too sure about ownership's ability in baseball matters.

I don't think you are giving Bannister enough credit. For every person like a Maddon or Francona there is to speak highly of Bogar, there's someone equally as important who has a glowing report on Bannister. From everything I've read in the national media, the Rangers are getting a lot of praise for this hire. Bannister is highly thought of around baseball and he is a very commanding presence who is said to possess great leadership qualities. Plus, he is similar to Bogar in that he uses a lot of advanced analytics.

To me, this has the feeling of a really great hire. I also think Bogar would have been a good choice. It seems like they had 2 star candidates.

However, the truth of the matter is that none of us know for sure whether this was the right hire yet or not. Only time will tell.

You maybe right in that I am not giving him enough credit. The Francona and Maddon praise was just one piece. Bogar has been a winner as a manager with the accolades to go with it. It is possible that both would have been great choices so I just hope it turns out that way.

Bannister must have really blown the Rangers brass away after the job Bogar did. Gutsy call. Hope it's the right one:suds:

I really liked Bogar, but Jeff Banister must have absolutely blown the FO away in the interview process to beat out Tim. That means I am excited to find out what this guy can do. The Clint Hurdle seal of approval is a good one IMO.

I sure hope JD knows what he's doing...:suds:

I was shocked actually. Bogar had the resume and the results...yes, it was only 22 games, but he got a rag tag last place team to play some good baseball for a month. The players responded to him, and that's a huge deal...and I liked how he managed a bullpen....

I don't know a thing about Banister other than what I've just read, and I know JD knows what he's doing...so I will give everybody the benefit of the doubt here. But I really thought Bogar earned a shot....

GO RANGERS! ....and GO ROYALS

What in the world has Houston seen in him. That is one interesting hire. Good for us.

Don't know and don't care as long as he's there and not here it's all good to me.

I'm looking at it as if Banister is the perfect choice till he's not. It's afresh start for everyone that excites me. Looking ahead in a positive way.:yahoo:

That's exactly how I'm looking at this. A fresh start brings new hope to a team not far removed from World Series contention.

One big improvement of Banister over Wash already is that Banister said he will not be bunting early in games but rather trying for more big early innings. Thank God!!!! I got so sick last year of watching the A's put up runs in bunches while we frequently settled for 1 run at a time. I'm all for small ball late in games, but not always early on when you can pile on the runs, knock out the starting pitcher, and put the game away.

I don't post here much because though I enjoy baseball I'm not expert and don't pretend to know how it is, I just love it's emotion.

With that being said, WOW! what a story this guy could tell.

Beats cancer. Continues to play.
Suffers temporary paralyzing injury, move's on.

Gets one at bat in the Major Leagues and gets a hit.

Stay'd loyal to the organization that gave him that shot and then gets offered a dream job that he couldn't of imagined.

Looks to be a family man and a players coach. I'm liking the hire for just the feel of it. Baseball is an emotional game for me, more so than football but different. I do like the feel of this hire. Made for TV shit.

Hope he's as good a manager as his story is heart warming.

That would have been true for about any manager not named Ron Washington. Even Bogar did not do that nonsense.
