If they are, they sure as hell haven't proven it yet.

Alabama (8-0) has faced 4 teams with winning records-Michigan, Western Kentucky, OLe Miss, and Miss St. One (Miss St.) is ranked in the top 25.

Of those only Ole Miss and Miss St. have a winning record against AQ schools.

None of the schools 'Bama's faced have beat a team currently ranked in the top 25.

Of all 8 opponents the biggest win they can boast is Mich over MSU, or Missery over ASU, it's horrible.

After #5 LSU they face #16 A&M at home, Western Carolina and Auburn...It's a good thing they were ranked #1 preseason, talk about murders row...Now of course they have a CCG, but beating Georgia ain't too hard if you don't turn the ball over 6 times.

Why everyone claims they are one another level is beyond me at this point, they are the most unproven of the undefeateds. Just doing what any top 10 team would do to that poor opposition.

Well if Oregon, KSU, or ND can finish unbeaten they will get a chance to prove themselves against Alabama (if they themselves stay unbeaten).

The fact is, when other conferences have had opportunities to beat SEC teams they haven't done it.

I'm not going to take the time to look because I'm pretty sure of it, but I'll go out on a limb here and say that the SEC has the best bowl record of all conferences over the last decade.

Good post. All facts. Funny how others drop due to schedule perception but not Bama.

Do they drop do to schedule perception, or how they play against those perceived weaker schedules. I'll defer to a Bama fan, but has Alabama struggled in even a single quarter against anyone they have played so far? I can't remember them having any nail biters or even trailing at the end of a quarter. It is one thing to win against an inferior opponent, it is another to put them away in the 1st quarter and then continue to pummel them with your 2nd and 3rd string in there as opposed to a last second field goal to beat an unranked team.

We trailed for 15 sec. this season so far. Least margin of victory this season is 19 points. 1st string hasn't played 4 qtrs. all season. I would like more competition myself but it's not hard to see this a really really good football team regardless. Besides that, it's always nice to be on peoples minds.

We have trailed only ONCE this entire season...and that was only for 15 seconds, because we returned the ensuing kickoff.

Oregon has done the same thing all year, we've had a few close quarters to start some games, but they are usually over by halftime, yet we get no love. I think we'd be the best match up for you guys, but I have a feeling were gonna get screwed even if we are unbeaten..

i agree...ND isnt close to the level of Bama or Oregon...hell, they lose a game to stanford but the refs turned into stevie wonder on the last play

You know, I hate ND but I respect that their trying to get their program back to it's roots. They have a good defense and seem to be solid all the way around. I just think Bama's Defense and better solid offense would win out and prevail. I think, Oregon's speed would kill ND as they like to try to control a game defensively. I just think the voters feel it's super important to put ND back on the national map, and maybe it is, But not at the expense of a better team.

I'm hoping A&M can make your defense play a full 4 quarters. Not putting money down, but hopeful. Our two losses were close ones to decent teams (LSU and FL), so I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

Does beating your opponents by an average of 34 points count? Yeah we've done that.

Nope. Avg margin of victory isn't what I'm talking about. i'm talking about putting a team away early and never looking back. Struggling through 3 quarters and then having a big 4th quarter isn't as dominant as kicking someones butt for 4 straight quarters, and having your starters on the bench for the 4th.

Our starters haven't made it to a 4 th qtr and most don't play in the third. This USC game is the first one I expect us to have to play the whole game

Well, I'm not saying that Oregon doesn't deserve to be ranked higher. I am simply putting out reasons that "others" may drop based on who they play but Bama hasn't.

I definitely agree, UO is the only undefeated team left who runs something different (offensively) than what Bama see's in practice everyday and that could cause problems. With Bama's offense going up against a mean ass D everyday, I'm fairly confident in them no matter who we play. Who knows though, we could fuck around and lose saturday and this could all be for nothing.
