Back on Top of The Baseball World

Lincecum wheeling and dealing

Got Giants fans screaming

Another No-No to his name

Number 55 back on top of his game

113 pitches had the Padres in pain

Sent them all one by one down the drain

6 strikeouts but only 1 walk

He shutdown all the critics who love to hear themselves talk

Yelling Fuck Yeah into his glove

A mob of teammates showed him some love

It never gets old

Another masterpiece down by the Cove

The heart of a Champion always rises above

Back in the clubhouse they all raised their hands

Pointing to the heavens the Band of Brothers rule the land

YES !YES ! YES ! ...on June 25th a magical day

They raised their cups and said cheers to their friend

Ten days after Tim's 30th birthday it's time to party again

Tim Lincecum's name back on top of the baseball world...Fuck Yeah !

Dedicated to SF Giants Tim Lincecum ..2 Time WS Champion..2 Time Cy Young winner...2 No-Hitters

the comeback kid with #55 on his back

Heart of a Champion

Time to kick ass and yell fuck yeah

Tim will be back

Honest question, BoB....do you think it's possible for a player to have a really great start to his career then fall off sharply at some point? I mean, it is possible because it happens all the time...do you think Giants players are immune? Or just Tim Lincecum? Or is it just that he's too young to count out? Not every pitcher is effective past 30....

Do you believe in the Easter Bunny?

Dude, you REALLY need to talk to your doctor. Your current cocktail is just not working anymore.

For centuries, everyone thought the earth was flat.

Turns out, that belief was incorrect.

Bring it on !

I still believe he will be back.

This is a man who just threw a no-hitter on June 25th.

I can understand that fans want results now but baseball is a funny game of ebbs and flows. Tim has been battling but it will click again. I really think he is thinking too much. I heard he was walking around in airports and in the clubhouse imitating his motion. Lincecum is a free spirit who is better off not thinking and just doing . Those times out of the bullpen when he shined in 2012 he did so because he did'nt have to think. He was called threw a few pitches in the Pen and kicked ass. Just let it fly Tim ...just let it fly.

Petit was one out away from a perfecto. Why don't you want him on the bump?

Mathewson threw 2 no-nos. Why not have him take Timmeh's spot?

Why am I arguing with a wall?

Yell into the abyss, son. It'll make ya feel better. It won't change anything, but you can always begin drinking early to alleviate the inevitable headache.

Actually BoB does have some room for hope here...both in 2014 and 2013, Tim has alternated months between over 4 ERA (sometimes way over) and under 4 ERA (usually around 3.65 but this May he was 2.89). And this isn't over 3 months, it's an 11 month pattern.

You can't say he's 'done' when he keeps coming back like that. But you can't say he's 'figured it out' because he keeps following decent months with shitty ones.

Another factoid though: from 2012-2014 his ERA isn't very good at all, I think high 4s, close to 5. But take out his Padres starts and it's....over 7. Ugh.

My take is he needs one more shot, this Thursday, vs the worst team in the NL without any of their main hitters, at home. If he can pitch decently, you give him another game leash. Maybe you work Petit in there for Colorado on the road, or Detroit. But vs the NL West he might be good enough to be the 5th starter. Now, next year...he may really have to look into the reliever thing.

So yeah, BoB is obviously going with heart over head here. But he's not insane.

Not the way I would've guessed...if you can't give him the ball vs Colorado at home, you really can't EVER give it to him...

True enough. Timmy's days as a SP may be over.

Petit has retired the last 38 batters he's faced, 7 short of tying the record. But I'm afraid this is the Peter Principle in action - they are promoting him to a job at which he has not performed well. His ERA in 6 starts this year is 6.32.

Facing the now AAAA Rox, maybe it would have been a good time to call up one of the prospects (instead of Kontos) and let him have a go here.

Tim Lincecum out of the rotation for now and into the bullpen. I expect him to be there down the stretch in September to win some big games. Disappointed Bochy will not give him the start Thursday. Maybe just a one game break from the grind.

Problem is what prospect do we go with. Kickham got his chance last year and looked worse than Tim.

Chris Heston has best numbers there.

Blackburn has dominated AA but should see AAA first
