B1G Championship Game

I know we've talked about this before, but I'm curious what fans around the conference think about location. We have to decide eventually. I think it should stay at Lucas Oil. Here is my list of reasons.

1. It builds a tradition..."going to Indy."
2. It's about as central as we can get.
3. Downtown Indy is well designed for events. Easy parking. Lots of hotels close. Not real expensive...which matters when you're talking about fans traveling and spending money in addition to bowls.
4. These are college players with other responsibilities. I think it's good for the top two teams to play in warmer conditions similar to what they'll see in their bowl games.

If Chicago had a dome I would say alternate, but yes Indy is pretty much far and away the best neutral site for a December game in the midwest.

i dont know you could just rotate it around up there......you got chicago,detroit,cleveland,cincy,minny.....lots of cities up there with big enough stadiums that shouldnt be expensive at all to travel to

Outdoor December games that far north suck balls for the fans.

Perhaps we'll revisit this in 3 years when Indy's contract is up. If they haven't renewed it before then.

B1G CCG needs to stay a night game too. Some of those places could potentially be so cold at night in december, you would have fans leaving the stadium.

Minny is a shithole. That venue is not suited to host this kind of event. Detroit is practically a home game for michigan.

only if they make it......my point is in general that it would be boring imo to have it in one place over/over.......i wouldnt feel the need to spend my money if my team was going to indy say 3 years in a row,or like 4 times in 6 years

Well I wouldn't want to be spending my hard earned vacation money to stand out in the freezing cold.

Indy is perfectly set up for this type of event is all. They built it with hosting superbowls in mind.

I guess I wouldn't mind seeing it go to Cincy or chicago and see how it goes, but Nebraska played Oklahoma in KC in '06 and all I heard from fans is how they couldnt move much and by the end they couldn't feel their feet. Doesn't make for a raucous atmosphere.

If Chicago ever pulls their head out and decides to redo the field at Soldier, I would expect the title game to be there at least 1 time. Until the turf issues are taken care of, not a chance.

Indy's Downtown is overrun by the extremely poor/homeless. The amount of truly great restaurants in Indy aren't enough to satisfy the demand when anything big is in town. The only real great benefit is that Downtown Indy is very centralized, but I would still MUCH prefer Chicago to it.
