List your top 10 MVP in each league, top 5 Cy Young in each league, and/or top 3 ROY in each league. In order to have your vote count you must complete the list for that league. Voting will end as soon as any post have a later date than 10/10.

Is this the final thread on this topic for the season? If so, I'll wait until the end to make my choices. Also, might be more fun to do this via PM for private balloting. Did that on another forum and it went well. Members posted their ballots after the results were revealed.

It will be the final vote and I will add them all up to figure who Hooplas awards will go to. Just figured I would get it out there so people know about it and can figure who they are going to vote for.

I think we all have list in our heads already, for me it is just sitting down and making sure the stats match up with what I am thinking.

Really could go either way with Trout and Donaldson. Depends how much you weigh Donaldson's defense versus Trout's offense IMO. Was thinking about throwing a bone to Mookie Betts as well. Kiermaier's up there in WAR, and while I think he's unquestionably one of the best defensive players in the game, I have a hard time buying that he's saving 40 runs with his glove. I just don't think that anyone is truly that good defensively. Fun player to watch though, even when he's robbing base hits from the Red Sox.

Cy Young
1. Clayton Kershaw
2. Jake Arrieta
3. Zack Greinke
4. Max Scherzer
5. Gerrit Cole

Very tough one. Kershaw/Arrieta/Greinke all have very strong cases. Poor Scherzer.

I was very close to going with Trout here. But the fact that Toronto is in the playoffs and LA isnt played a big part in Donaldson winning out.

Cy Young
1. D Keuchel
2. D Price
3. S Gray
4. C Sale
5. M Estrada

After Keuchel and Price, it was slim-pickings here. Kluber was probably just outside my top 5, though.

MVP, IMHO, is about 65% numbers, 35% story. Harper has the numbers, hands down. But Cespedes has the story. He wasnt in the NL for long, but he carried the Mets and put up numbers that actually would have put him into outside talk for #10 on an MVP list anyway.

Cy Young

1. Z Greinke
2. C Kershaw
3. J Arrieta
4. M Scherzer
5. G Cole

3-man battle. Quite possibly, any of these 5 could win in the AL this year, though.

3. J Kang

Bryant ended up running away with this thing. At mid-season, he had actually fallen off my ballot.

I just don't see how you can justify giving an NL MVP vote to a guy that has 249 plate appearances in that league. And while he's played very well for them, I think it's pretty insulting to Grandy/Conforto/d'Arnaud/etc. to say that he carried them.

Some of the Mets 2nd half performers:
Granderson: .278/.392/.506, 152 wRC+, 3.1 fWAR
Cespedes: .287/.337/.604, 157 wRC+, 2.7 fWAR
Conforto: .270/.335/.506, 134 wRC+, 2.1 fWAR
Duda: .250/.364/.591, 160 wRC+, 1.7 fWAR
d'Arnaud: .256/.340/.464, 127 wRC+, 1.6 fWAR
Murphy: .284/.313/.490, 117 wRC+, 1.6 fWAR

The Mets offense was anemic before they added Cespedes. Couldnt the argument be made that adding his bat to the lineup allowed everyone else to excel?

I thought about putting Betts in my list, but decided that Ortiz had a little more to do with the second half run the Sox had.

While I didn't vote for Cespedes, I do agree with Cal that the Mets O was different once he joined the team. In the four monthes before he got there they scored 365 runs in 103 games. In the last two monthes they scored 318 runs in 59 games.

No, I meant make the argument that he was the reason for the improvement, not that the Mets offense improved and that it coincided with his arrival. How did he single handedly make the Mets' offense "different"? I see the correlation, sell me on the causation.
