And September begins a new month or continues the old?

We are now something like 3-12 in opening games of series post-ASB. What is it about this team that cannot seem to win the first game in a series? Are they not motivated? Are they tired? Are they bored? Are they hurt? Are they just not as talented as we thought? You'd think they'd get up for the opening games in series, but they continue to lose them. Makes it tougher to win/tie a series when you are already down a game.

I posted last week the top MLB teams and their best and worst 40 game stretches this season, and the splits are by far the worst for the Giants. They were like 31-9 and also 14-26 for a 17 game differential. The Chubs, as bad as they had played earlier in June, only had like a 6 game differential.

Jekyll and Hyde.

It's just baseball man. Hot and cold streaks. They are gonna lose 70 games at least. Early in the year the same players won a lot more games. So maybe they will again, not much more to be done about it.

I almost put Brandon Belt on the hot list but his batting average was .237. However, he was still getting on base around a .340 clip and his slugging was over .400. He didn't get many hits but when he did, they weren't singles.

I will take a lower OBP from Belt for a higher AVG and a higher SLG. He's not paid to get on base, he's paid to drive in runs, isn't he? The only way his walks drive in runs is with the bases loaded.

His slash line for August was .237/.348/.433. That includes 12 singles, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs and 17 RBIs. He led the team in RBIs for the month (one better than Panik). Not quite numbers I felt comfortable putting him in the hot list but decent numbers nonetheless.

Didn't realize he had so many RBI's in the month, but that needs to be consistent. He and Posey have really been disappointing in how few runs they have driven in this season.

Yeah, if you look at Belt's monthly numbers, he fluctuates from month to month in that department. August was one of his better months in terms of driving in runs.
