Any chance Marvin can hire him for clock management?

Careful what you ask for..... Smith is one of Marvin's buddies. He could end up on our staff at some point.

Mike Smith and Marvin Lewis together on one staff. I'd rather watch soccer...

Wasn't Hue hired last season as a Special Teams Assistant?

I think he was hired as a defensive and special teams assistant and then moved to a running backs coach the next season. Basically Marvin just wanted him on staff to replace Jay whenever Jay got a job.

I don't think we have to worry about Pauly G getting a job, but I can definitely see Marvin wanting another one of his friends on staff. I also can't imagine Smith drawing a ton of interest even at the coordinator level.

Is he better than Paul Geunther though?

you get kind of an elephant in the room feel when you have an expert on your staff and you're supposed to be in charge of things.

I've been one of Geunther's critics in the past. I'm not sold yet, but the defense has played better in the past few weeks.

I've been critical as well, but some of the struggles might not be his fault. They really struggled against the run early in the year, but they were missing Burfict and Thompson..... Geno has not been himself all year and we let MJ walk. It's possible that he just didn't have the horses.

Pretty impressive job on Bell the other night after being shredded by him just a few short weeks ago. Of course, the focus on stopping him might have contributed to that horrible pass rush, but what can you do?

A lot of horrible head coaches are damn good coordinators. For example: Norv Turner, Dick Lebeau, Rex Ryan, Marvin Lewis.

Ain't it a bitch?

I wont believe Marvin is a good defensive coordinator until he does it again without a loaded defense. Dont forget how many other Baltimore defensive coordinators looked good, and stunk as head coaches

fair enough.

I guess I could take him seriously if I didn't think of Jonas Hill praying to Korean Jesus every time I look at Geunther.
