Michigan State is #11 and #33? I don't think that our practice squad is good enough to be ranked 33 but they probably would give Michigan a good run for their money. :yahoo:

#33 is Mississippi State

I think Michigan being #32 threw me off.

I'm expecting the best year for the big 10 in a while. We'll see if they live up to my expectations.

Texas at #17? Which means that with just a couple of breaks the Horns are a Top Ten team? I don't know. Charlie Strong must be a magician if he can pull that one off. What do the Texas fans think?

When you've got talent it's really about motivation, getting players in the right places, and giving them something they can execute. Organization. It's what separates good head coaches from mediocre head coaches from truly bad head coaches.

10-3 would warrant a #17 spot. Maybe even a couple spots higher depending on who, when, and how the 3 losses were obtained.

...and knowing full well what he established here - he will have 100% effort and commitment from every player on that team. They'll run into burning buildings for the man.

I dont really see that. Defense should be improved on coaching alone. DL has one of the best DTs in conference in Malcolm Brown. Reed is the best returning DE in the conference (though Devonte Fields could change that). I think the defense will be one of the better in the Big 12. Issue is the offense. ASh has proven solid, but injury prone. There is not much behind him. OL has 4 new starters, though a couple guys have started a few games last yr. I am not liking an injury prone QB matched with a relatively inexperienced OL. I was expecting 8-9 wins. 10 would be a surprise. There is some talent there, but Texas is putting in the 3rd defensive and offensive system in 4 years. Not the most conducive environment to develop that talent.

You may have something here. Texas's schedule is very front loaded. I could easily see 3 losses in the first 6 games as Texas gets UCLA, Baylor, and OU in that time frame. Nice little run at the end could inflate the rankings.

I'm kind of surprised to see UGA in the top 10. Maybe it's because of the schedule? We're returning a good bit of players too I suppose.

No love for the Hawkeyes...that's always nice to see...could be 2010 all over again (hopefully a better end result)...With their schedule I dont see how they arent preseason top 20...not to mention I would think they are favored in their first 10 games

Louisville at #28 - I get that. With a coaching change, no Teddy & key loses on the D side - along with our new kid status in the ACC, this is about right for the Cards. But with the personnel we have returning and the Xs & Os of Bobby Petrino, we'll pull our share of wins out this season & finish respectfully between 10 -15

Picked up the magazine yesterday and was going through the team reports and I read that Western Michigan had a better recruiting class than Iowa, Purdue, Northwestern and Illinois. Wow. No Big 10 team should be out-recruited by a MAC team, especially one coming off a 1-11 record. That's terrible.

Come back in 5 years and we'll compare the # of NFL draft picks among those teams.

I'm sure Iowa will have more from the 2014 class get drafted. I wouldn't be throwing a parade or anything. That should be expected.

Is competing with Notre Dame in the NFL Draft expected?
