What a fricking gr8 game..... A's looked like they had it more than once but KC just refused to give in.... Wow that was some good baseball...

I tried watching but couldn't really follow what was going on. 17 runs, 28 hits, clutch hits off Doolittle and Gregerson, the home team coming through in a do or die situation, tying the game in the bottom of the ninth, coming from behind twice, winning in extra innings. These things are all foreign to me. Wasn't the baseball I'm used to.

I didn't watch much of it, but I was rooting for KC to win. I did find it a bit funny that this game went for the A's the same way their season went. They came storming out of the gate to a big lead, only to watch that lead erode as things progressed. The difference between their season as a whole and this game is that they did just enough at the end of their season to get into the wildcard game and keep the M's out (it helped that the M's had their own mini-meltdown on the road trip), but they couldn't do the same thing to keep KC from moving onto the next round.

So glad the A's lost. Trading away blue chip prospects and their cleanup hitter for 3 guys they thought would finally let them beat the Tigers.... only to lose in a 1 game playoff to a team who hasn't been there in 29 years!

I think it is time for Beane to move on from Oakland. He's tried his moneyball for long enough without having the resources to get over the hump, then he tried it the conventional baseball way with two big splashes but didn't have the resources to get over the hump. I obviously don't follow Oakland but I wonder WTF Melvin was doing after the deadline, did he just go to sleep with managing or something. At least I can give Lloyd credit cause during the M's tail spin he tried different things.

Be interesting to see what the A's do with Samardzija. He obviously isn't resigning there after next year so they may just try and flip him somewhere else. Either way I don't think they get the same package they gave up. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see the A's take a step back next year but it always seems that way and never happens
