I expected a short slump after the streak ended. That's the way of big winning streaks. The key is to recover quickly from the slump.

I'm just glad it came so close to the All-Star break.

What a throw by Martin, but Pedro had his back to the play, and there was no way he could have known his swipe tag would have gotten through before the runner got there. I would like to say he should have stopped the glove on the bag, but when you don't know how close the guy is, you don't want to slow your motion that split-second earlier lest you don't get it there in time.

Pedro does not seem to be intimidated either by the cleanup spot or Bartolo Colon today. A hard-hit ball in his first at bat, and a nice opposite field knock in the second.

why was locke nimbling to 2 .200 hitters and walked them both. martin actually set up inside the inside corner on the 3-2 pitch that walked in the 2nd run. should be going right after those guys, especially with the bases loaded and how bad they were.
error on locke and esp martin in those sequences.
even the strikes to the second walk were on the corners. not sure of the preceding walk where the strikes were but i think he walked on a 3-1 pitch.

why does cole never throw inside. not even missing inside.
locke throws 1/3 - 1/2 of his pitches inside and cole throws 1/20.
they just swing away, striding into it and getting good swings.
martin has to bring him up and in and even miss in to move th batter's eye and weight around.
