No, I like seeing all the G5 schools in bowl games especially since those teams never take them for granted and there's meaning for them. They don't get a shot at a national title so might as well give them something to play for.

Winning there conference isn't something to play for?

Nebraska.

Last year I would have been for rewarding 4 win teams with a bowl game......this year I would have raised my standard though to at least 5 wins....:martini:

My beer is too cold.

And my TV is too big.

Wish I worked more.

Need to match 5-6, 7-8, and so on. That said, I have no problem with the number of bowls and even if people don't like 6-6 teams getting rewarded with a bowl, perhaps it helps keep these teams playing hard during the regular season.

Yes, there are too many. It's still easy to ignore the bad ones.

Good way to look at it. Hadn't thought of it like that

Sure, but that's not always a viable option and this could be applied to the P5 when schools know they don't have a realistic shot at a conference title but can get a nice bowl bid out of it.

Plus you're also discounting the importance of playing on a national stage and exposure for recruiting, and just the general notion that this is a major stepping stone towards winning a conference. Watch the Kent State players and coaches during the Frisco Bowl, you think that wasn't a big momentum point for them?

Welp, this post certainly goes against the theory that Steelers fans are dumb :D:pound::pound:

The problem is that what you may think is a bad one turns out to be one of the best, most exciting of the bowl season. @GhostRiderRushville and I have watched & done many a game thread in our old location for years & found some outstanding ones which people blew off, then came tearing in to ask what was going on. Being that we are hateful, we wouldn't tell them.

But we have seen some stomp down entertaining games among those everyone else labeled too shit to watch in their opinion. And been bored beyond words with some of the overhyped "big name" ones.

I've become to enjoy the New Era Pinstripe bowl. It's unique being played in a baseball stadium, it usually has awful weather given it's in New York City at the end of December, and given it's on in the middle of the day a day or two after Christmas, it is a great bowl game to watch and relax. With that, I am sure within a year or two it'll change names from it's sponsor of New Era and will probably also change names from Pinstripe bowl to something else, making it in about 3-4 years from now a bowl game I quickly forget about and no longer take time to watch.

I tink that the Pinstripe Bowl will be called that for quite a while. It seems to me that I read somewhere that the bowl is owned by the Yankees.

We need another bowl on New Year's Day. The G5 Power Bowl #2 and #3 G5 schools matched up. Boise St and App St would have been dandy

It's pretty simple, ESPN owns outright 15 bowl games, mostly the shitty ones and has the broadcast rights to 35 of the 40 odd bowls.

It's relatively cheap programming that gets views, there will be as many bowl games as ESPN wants to televise.
