No it wasn't. If you had the 15 game lead that we do, nobody would ever think it possible.

The Cards will catch the Pirates and pass them up because the Cards have the better team. You guys should get a wildcard, though.

Marked again.

Anybody who starts a thread like this is either a sports rube, or a troll.

Dozens of games left in the season, so yeah, no, they're not a lock.

How much longer will the magic last for the Pittsburgh Pirates? You say they aren't a lock, but are you sure about that? Think about it, they're 71-48 in first place of the NL Central and they have been in first place a couple times this season. So being like 27 games above .500 you don't think guarantee's them a playoff spot? You can say they're guaranteed to win the division. Are you sure the pirates somewhere down the line, at the end of the year will start to dissapoint or no? In 2011 and 2012 we have seen the pirates go downhill why is it different this year and are their any believers out their that still honestly believe the pirates will fade and start seeing the 20 consecutive season losing team? Answer me that when will they fade??

I'm not a troll all I was asking was us that are the pirates a guaranteed lock for the postseason? That's not a hard question is it? Last year the pirates wanted to sell playoff tickets and it was only early August 2012, tell me if they should do that right now or is they considered a jinx?

That series is basically my first memory as a Pirate fan. And I barely have it. I was almost 4.

Well for me the '79 season was a blur being so young.
But for those 80's Pirate fans you will know 90, 91 and 92 were the biggest heart ache ever.

As a Pirate fan old enough to remember you will never forget '92.....
Or this in '90 game six 9th inning:

Anyway back on topic for them to not be a wildcard three teams would have to pass them right now, Cards/Reds and Diamondbacks. So unless they have free fall like the last two years they should be there.

The question is are the pirates good enough to keep being dominant at home and still struggle on the road?

Seriously why are all your posts like a reporter wondering if the Pirates are going to be good?

To answer that question, none of us truly know but looking at the numbers they would really have to slump bad to not make it now, let alone to .500.

The way the NL Central is shaping up how will the NL Central race turn out? It's going to be a 3 team race, that quite obvious as of right now because the brew crew an cubbies aren't going anywhere. Give me your predictions where which team will finish at the end of September. I'm asking nicely and you guys simply won't answer my question. What are you afraid of me jinxing the pirates. Why does everyone finally want them to win now? I'm from New York and I'm a longtime Yankees fan that lives in Pittsburgh, and I still consider myself a Yankees fan over a pirates fan why? Because the Yankees have 27 world championships, something any sport fan should respect. And George Steinbrenner is the Best sports manager of all time. Better than Art Rooney lol! I don't give the pirates any credit for winning their 2 games against the Padres because the Padres suck. So the bucs aren't accomplishing anything special by beating them. They still rank 27th in offense.

Against teams with winning records for the 2013 season:

Pirates - 27-25
Cards - 23-29
Reds - 21-31

Also, Art Rooney has absolutely nothing to do with baseball.

Dude is a troll

All I was asking is how the division will turn out and you are calling me a troll? It makes no sense whatsoever. Making predictions for the NL Central won't Jinx the pirates number #1. Number #2 every team has its ups and downs, the pirates haven't had their fall off yet but it's coming, number #3 my picks are
1. Cardinals-they have more experience, when it comes down to it.
2. Reds
3. Pirates
4. Cubs
5. Brewers

Plus the pirates aren't the best story in the major leagues right now it's the dodgers. If the pirates play the dodgers in a one game playoff-the dodgers will annihilate them, as hot as they've been.

Sept 9th -11th will be a great time for the Pirates to test their depth, could even be a division decider.

The Liriano and Martin signings have turned out pretty well.

The Pirates have acquired Justin Morneau. His best years are behind him, but he's a definite upgrade over Jones as the lefty in the first base platoon.

Yes the pirates have gotten Justin Morneau but will he be the same player as he was in 2006 like Liriano was with the twins? Still think the cardinals are stronger? I don't know about that right now. I change my standings now...
1. Pirates-adding Morneau,Buck, and Byrd theirs no way their going to struggle now right?
2. Cardinals-because they have experience
3. Reds-the reds will be a Wild Card as long if Joey Votto's healthy.
4. Cubs-They're done-hopes for possibly finishing third place next year if they can add some more talent.
5. Brewers-done for this season but they'll be back, they have a solid group of young players, Jean Segura has a bright future ahead of him, and if Hart and Braun are healthy next year-yes this team can win.
