Boston College ended their basketball season by getting routed 88-66 by Florida State in the first round of the ACC tournament. The Eagles went just 7-25 this year, including an unfathomable 0-19 in conference play, the first team to go winless in the ACC since the post-Len Bias Maryland Terrapins.

Boston College had a very young team, relying mostly upon freshman anchored by a couple of seniors. After the loss to Florida State, one of those seniors—center Dennis Clifford—was asked about his best college basketball memory. His answer will make you depressed for a couple of weeks. Via AP:

Against Florida State, Boston College senior center Dennis Clifford had 15 points and nine rebounds before fouling out with 9½ minutes left. Right then, BC’s deficit was somewhat manageable, at 65-56, but quickly climbed back up to 15 points.

Wonder if Chipolte (if they remain in business) will give them free food for life?

Nope. They had a good coach in Al Skinner, but their fans got cocky and thought they could do better. They've been nothing short of a joke since then.

What a poor season they had, 7-25. Let's see how they do for next year.

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of those A-holes to begin with but it still is pretty depressing to see this

Screw BC. They started the downfall of the Big East.

That has got to be one of the saddest things out there... But it's pretty hard to forget what happened to them when they went to Chipolte... They will forever remember that!

IIRC, BC was the first to enter the entire conference realignment sweepstakes... weren't they?

I thought it was them and Miami, but my memories is fuzzy of the time period.

I had ta googlie it...

Miami and Virginia Tech were the first two schools to bolt for the ACC, but Boston College had been one of the first three schools sought by the ACC (along w/ Miami and Syracuse) starting in 2003. VPI somehow got substituted for BC along the way and 'Cuse was dropped. The Hokies and Hurricanes joined the ACC in 2004, BC the following year.

So technically, BC might have started the ball rolling in flirting w/ the ACC along w/Miami, but they were not the first school to switch in that massive re-alignment.
