Did Anyone Catch The Eagles Game Last Night

With the way Chip Kelly is playing Vick he won't last half the season he took some decent hits in a preseason game I hate to see what happens when all the starters are on the field!!!!

Not overly worried about Kelly. Its fast paced, and it works when your starters are running 25 plays or less. But at the NFL level, he is going to run his players just as ragged as he is trying to run the defense. Remember that the faster paced your offense, the less rest your own defense gets. So if it doesnt put up points in bunches, his own defense will be just as worn down come the 4th quarter as he hopes opposing defenses will be.

I'm glad we don't have to play them in the regular season, after last night. They were pretty much running the Panzers ragged, but gave up some bone-headed turnovers that kept us in the game.

well here are the projected starters for us

bowen , cofield , golston , riley LBF Rak kerrigan , hall amerson , rambo and merriweather

the 3 concerns i have is the d/line will need rest , LBF's age , merriweathers health defending that offense

we may have to rotate barnett in there every other series as we would with doughty . the d/line might need nield , baker in there as well maybe merling

on offense we will have to control the ball

Dad... much like Spurrier, everything looks pretty in preseason. My honest opinion, week one we are going to roll Philly big time and Chip Kelly will be the laughing stock of the league. Dont matter how fast you snap the ball if its a three and out.

Agreed. This isn't Oregon where Kelly had athletes on O that were far superior to almost everyone they played. Any team that sees this with any regularity will learn to prepare and coach against it. Many teams trying to run gimmick offenses have failed. I don't think this will be any different a couple years down the road.

I think the biggest concern is the surprise element of Kelly's first NFL game. And Robert's first (hopefully) game back. Should be a great game.

The Eagles basically run the 2 minute drill the entire game. I believe the last game they were snapping the ball with around 17 secs left on the play clock. I would assume the scout team would run 11-on-11 in the same manner, simulating this as best as possible.

Coaches and players will more than likely look at a lot of Oregon film and everything he's done through the preseason to get a better understanding of what the scheme could look like. Turnovers hurt every team, but Kelly really made people pay in college because of the tempo. If you take care of the ball and wear the D down with long drives, it keeps your D fresh while challenging his.

With the new CBA, preseason basically becomes a competitive practice against another team. It allows vet's a chance to shake off some rust and provides some vanilla film of what worked and didn't work. As you said, preseason doesn't really tell you anything about the regular season, that's left for well, the regular season when starters play from start to finish. If anything, the preseason gives you a chance to see young faces and people fighting for a spot somewhere in the NFL.
