I definitely think we should take a shot with this guy on a one year deal. I don't think his defense is all that good, BUT I've seen this guy play live several times and he can HAMMER the puck through a wall.

He would immediately become our best PP option, AND is a right handed shot. AND it would provide Ilya with a fellow Russian.

Note: Someone has to leave for Babchuk to be signed.

I know for a fact that his D is mediocre, but it's not as bad as some offensive defensemen plus we have a system that can protect lesser defensemen.

NOTE: The last two NHL seasons, he's almost scored more goals than our entire defense combined.

hey i'd be willing to take a risk on him, but i honestly think i'd like to have larsson instead.

that leaves two spots to fight for

fayne- head start
ubrom-would probably get in for sure had we not drafted larsson
larsson-takes over the no.1 spot of the prospect chain

salvador- sorry but we had a cap situation to solve last year and we probably will again this year. you are mr. victim.

If Larsson comes in and really impresses, I want him here, but if comes in and is just good, I think it's best for us, him, the team if he gets a bit more seasoning.

NOTE:

Babchuk is also really young still, and he's 6'5".

I'm only talking about him as a possibility at 2M or less at 2yrs or less.

What about Taormina?? He looked good before he went down with injury

i actually think he'll be hard pressed to make it without mac.

i don't want to take any credit away from the kid, he was great offensively but i did not think he was very good anywhere else. i think hes going to have tough time beating out a guy like urbom or larsson

Taormina's issue was his size. He just gets run over. Now, he does have some offensive ability, but if you're that small you better be the fastest or smartest defender on your team, which he isn't. If they can find anyone else they consider capable of producing his level of offense (like Fayne), he's in trouble.
