New season premieres tonight at 9. Thought I'd give a heads up for any fans here because this caught me off guard. I love his shows but I don't recall seeing any advertisements for his new season.

I can't figure out why they changed the name, because it's still essentially him traveling the world eating and drinking his ass off. I enjoy the shows though. He's entertaining.

Copyrights. Travel channel owns "No Reservations". He left them so thus the name change.

Tonight's episode was interesting but I absolutely no desire to go to Punjab.

He went to Iran tonight. Really great episode. One of the best he's done. Considering hardly anyone gets into Iran, I definitely recommend everyone checking it out just to see what its like over there (surprisingly more modern than I expected honestly). It reairs on Thursday at 9pm and Midnight.

I watched most of it.
Looked like he was on edge for a good part of it, maybe that's just me, but the scenes in public he seemed very reserved and said very little. I'm sure that the Iranians were watching him and his crew like hawks and also only allowed him into places that suited their own interests.

Most of the people he visited and talked to sounded like they would have liked to have said more than they did, but knew they couldn't. That one couple arrested a month later and shit.

Food looked great.

Yeah, no doubt he was being careful. It's extremely difficult (for obvious reasons) for Americans to go to Iran. He said at the start of the show they had been working for 4 years to get it set up. And they had to turn the camera off several times. I did get a good chuckle out of him telling that little kid he was from America. That 5 year old looked like he was gonna piss his pants. "America? What?" *mind blown*.

I'm still taken back by how modern it is there though. I mean I wasn't expecting stone ages but with all the sanctions over the years, I expected a lot worse. In all honesty, it looked better than Saudi Arabia and other ME nations he's been to. It looked more or less like Turkey as far as infrastructure and what amenities people have.

I liked the part where he went and mingled with the car guys out on the street.
They sure like those American Muscle Cars, no doubt.

Persian food is awesome.....there are a quite a few Iranian restaurants here in SF and around the bay area.

I would love to visit their country someday.
I also enjoy mid-eastern cuisine.

If you haven't already, you should read his book Kitchen Confidential. Its an easy read but if you have ever worked in a kitchen especially, it is simply great! He talks about banging a bride out back by the dumpster at her own reception he was working. That alone should tell you to read the book!

Went to Powell Books in Portland some years ago and saw AB speak. The guy is funny, articulate and poetic in his speech. I like watching all his shows whatever network he is on.

Favorite show was when he went down into Bayou country and attended a close friends only BBQ southern style. AB had the honor of shooting the pig in the head. All parts were used and scattered about the farm for prepping and cooking by a host of people attending. Amazing and looked like a hellva good time right down to the cajun music played. Party went on for a couple of days I believe.

New season starts tonight at 9pm with a trip to South Korea. If you miss it, they've listed several replays throughout the week.

That show doesn't seem as well put together as "No Reservations" and "The Layover."

Fwiw....persian food is atypical, and very different from the other types of "traditional middle eastern" cuisines....and in most cases, is far superior......imho.
Have you ever eaten grape leaf rolls?
